The position will monitor, analyze and report the Performance of Plant Spartanburg using key performance indicators KPI’s. Volume (units per hour uph), OEE, Down-time will be measured and reported to Plant Spartanburg's Senior Management on a daily and weekly basis. The Intern will be proactive and make program recommendations based on the current performance. The position will monitor the order flow through the plant identifying process blocks and paying special attention to priority orders, package changes and new model launches. The position will be proactive to ensure process blocks are not active longer than is necessary.
The qualified intern should expect to contribute & improve in the following functions:
- Prepare the department daily status report, (volume, Down-time etc).
- Correctly assign new blocks in the BMW reporting system “IPS-L”.
- Regularly check the Plant Spartanburg Block list and follow-up with owners of any Past-due Topic.
- Prepare the weekly Plant Spartanburg Production status report for the Senior Management Meeting.
- Develop a Program Health report which identifies if Plant 10 will achieve its volume objectives or if additional measures are required.
- Support Production Control with VPS Process improvement activities.
- Develop a process and a tool which analyzes the current performance of the three major technologies (Bodyshop, Paintshop, Assembly) and predicts the future volume results.
- Review the 10 core Production Control processes with the team. All updates or improvements to each process to be properly recorded in the Document Management System (DMS).
- Pursuing a a technical degree in a Science, Engineering, Mathematics, Business, or IT program.
- Computer skills are required, to include: MS Office, MS Excel, MS Power-Point.
- Experience preparing and presenting presentations preferred.
- Successful completion of previous internship/working student assignment within the BMW group (3-month period minimum).
- Current enrollment in Master program outside of the US or enrolled in the last semester of a Bachelor program outside of the US.
- Equivalent of 3.0 GPA.
