Job Description
Position Overview The Production Manager role will have overall leadership responsibility for day-to-day production of the Siemens Gas Chromatograph and Integration business in Houston. The facility is the global headquarters for Siemens analytical equipment and systems, and the lead-factory for all global production of our product-line. This role will be responsible to ensure on-time delivery of high-quality products and equipment within budget and in a manner which embraces and enhances our zero-harm safety culture. You will continuously guide and lead your teams to meet an operational excellence plan consistent with customer needs, inventory constraints and profit requirements. Responsibilities Responsible to align Production’s daily tactical activity with Siemens global and local strategies to ensure the Department supports our customers’ requirements with a strong focus on cost, quality and safety. Develops and manages departmental budgets and business plans. Responsible for innovation to continuously enhance or improve existing processes. Identifies resource needs and develops justification. Troubleshoots and resolves complex problems. Recommends organizational structures and supervisory relationships for department. Responsible for overall implementation of the manufacturing function to include: Maintain and enhance culture of ownership and high-performance standards Develop and implement process improvements resulting in a positive impact on production cycle time, cost, and quality Support the analysis of space requirements, workflow and design layout of equipment and workspace for optimum efficiency and safety using Lean Tools such as VSM and Takt Time Interface with customers as needed to explain production status / issues in a manner which instills confidence in our ability to successfully implement. Track employee performance and give employees regular performance feedback to develop high performing culture as it relates to safety, quality, efficiency and cycle time Supervise multiple employees, including shop floor supervisors. Required Knowledge/Skills/Education BS in engineering or operations excellence discipline or combination of proven performance in manufacturing leadership roles and formal training. Demonstrates and applies advanced knowledge of manufacturing concepts, practices, and procedures. Experience with ERP/MRP systems and their optimal use. Ideally SAP. Proven track record in driving continuous improvement Proven ability in workforce team building, motivation, performance management and driving accountability. 10+ years of successful experience in a directly related field and successful demonstration of key responsibilities and knowledge as presented above. Preferred Knowledge/Skills/Education Experience with Process Analytics equipment, their use and construction methods Demonstrated knowledge of managing a one-piece flow, pull manufacturing system.
