Job Description
As a vital stakeholder to the success of the Sutton in ashfield plant, the Production Planner will be responsible for creating and maintaining an effective production schedule that ensures customer requirements are met wherever possible. The Production Planner will be comfortable and capable of operating in a complex, fast paced, make-to-order manufacturing environment. The main responsibilities of the role: Create and maintain production orders in line with demand, material availability and capacity constraints. Establish and maintain effective relationships with the company’s internal customers in accordance with the ethical code and standards of conduct maintaining the highest level of professionalism at all times Create reports detailing load and capacity requirements for the plant to meet the demands of the business Create and maintain purchase orders for inter-plant demands as necessary Review customer amendment and expedite requests (including changes to delivery dates and order content) and co-ordinate with customer service and production to implement and communicate changes Review engineering changes and take the necessary actions to communicate changes to production. Review material supply issues impacting the production plan. Communicate to Customer Service any impacts on customer requirements Continually seek and identify areas for improvement, in line with the strategic direction of the organization with a view to improving service levels to customers Maintain material master record fields appropriate to the supply chain functions Ensure proper and professional commercial engagement at all times Drive and support activities relating to the control of inventory demonstrated by minimal variance & >95% cycle count accuracy. Qualifications Education level required: Secondary School Level. Supply Chain Qualifications would be an advantage. Years and area of experience required: Minimum of 2 years planning experience in a make-to-order manufacturing environment. Technical knowledge: SAP or any other major ERP system experience would be desirable. Engineering background would be an advantage (Mechanical/Electrical). Competent with Microsoft Office Packages (Excel, Work, Outlook). Soft skills: Excellent organisational and administration skills are essential. The ability to communicate at all levels internally and externally. A flexible and proactive approach to daily tasks. The ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines. The ability to work on own initiave and be able to work as part of a team. The ability to multi task and prioritise workload accordingly.
