System Integration Production Shelter Line Lead - Instrumentation Siemens is seeking a dynamic System Integration Production Lead for our Northwest Houston, TX area. Candidate must have prior team lead experience with a proven track record of meeting and exceeding production goals. Position overview The System Integration (SI) Shelter Line Lead is responsible – in concurrence with the System Integration Supervisor - to direct and coordinate production activities in the SI manufacturing Line to ensure products are manufactured on schedule, meet quality standards and are on budget. Oversee all personnel in the assigned department and assure the effective utilization of resources and personnel with the objective of maximizing production output while maintaining safety, quality, and cost standards. This hands-on position will support ongoing manufacturing with a strong emphasis in supporting the implementation and sustainability of lean process improvements, automation/digitalization, ensuring process capability and process repeatability. The SI Shelter Line Lead reports to the System Integration supervisor and will work closely with Production Planner/Scheduler, Warehouse, Procurement, Engineering, and Quality. Primary responsibilities: Coordinate production activities for instrumentation according to engineering drawings and specifications, i.e. plan views, elevations, electrical power and signal, sample conditioning system, instrumentation schematics, and fabrication drawings. Review drawings for errors, oversights, and inconsistencies and report to SI supervisor or Engineer as soon as possible. Complete material take offs for the material not listed in the Bill of Materials, e.g., pipe, tubing, tube fittings, valves, and sizing enclosures. Support the SI shelter line craftsperson in solving problems and give solutions in reference to instrumentation and building integration. Perform and support craftsperson in defining the best instrumentation and tubing routings to avoid conflicts with the electrical conduit installations. Communicate to Engineering any technical question related to the system integration and provide feedback received to craftsperson. Advise in a timely manner to the SI supervisor and/or Production planner when a SI project may be at risk of not meeting customer schedule. When needed, assist providing to SI supervisor estimated hours to complete specific instrumentation tasks for proposal purposes. Coordinate with production planner, SI supervisor, warehouse and procurement on material shortages and support to expedite. Track material status and shortages in SAP and report all missing material to SI supervisor. Coordinate with SI supervisor the maintenance of shop materials and shop tools. Assist the SI shelters shipping process. Monitor shop personnel on their productivity / attendance and adjust, as necessary. Ensure all SI projects are fabricated, assembled, and shipped as required to meet customer schedules and quality requirements. Work closely with production planner and SI supervisor to develop and implement production schedules to meet revenue targets. Monitor SI department metrics on performance, schedule adherence, safety, cost, and quality. Track employee performance and give employee performance feedback. Follow and support the implementation of company policies and procedures. Implement and sustain Lean Manufacturing methodologies in the assigned area. Facilitate the development of corrective action plans to resolve and improve performance as it relates to safety, quality, delivery, or people behaviors. Provide technical direction to craftsperson. Work independently and employ effective time management skills. Overtime (including weekend work) as required. Coordinates with the Electrical Lead on complex layouts in reference to instrumentation and tubing routings. Documents nonconformance’s, reworks or disruptions on ongoing projects Reviews Preliminary drawings for inconsistencies and potential problems in preparation for the production kick off meeting General Qualifications and Skills: Proficient in reading and interpreting layout and schematic drawings. Proficient in routing and fabricating complex Multi -Tube runs (group tubing) of various sizes consisting of 1/8’’ through 1’’ tubing Speed and quality when running tubing should consist of – 20min to 45min a tube on shelters and to be installed square and level. Proficient in pressure testing. Proficient in laying out and fabrication pipe of various sizes - 1/4’’ through 3’’ pipe - Proficient in positioning connection taps in reference to piping schematics and equipment layout. Proficient in installing heated sample bundles. Assertive communication Intermediate SAP user. Lean Manufacturing basics. Problem solving approach. Self-driven and motivated. Goals oriented. Normally 8+ years of experience in an industrial role setting and leading people. Answer questions and provide direction Support technical issue resolution: directly solve issue, answer question contact responsible technical person (assigned engineer, designer, or product/production support engineer) to facilitate resolution elevate to supervisor to get issue resolved Understand required materials. Develop MTO lists. Identify or confirm when materials are missing. Elevate as needed. Work assignments Make decisions to assign work, ensuring job is appropriate for worker’s skill Act as a working-lead (perform work yourself) Ensure worker is “set-up for success” to complete the assigned job. Has tools, knowledge, information, and skills. Ensure job is not over-staffed Whenever sufficient resources are not available, elevate to supervisor Monitoring work performance Set goals on hours to complete Confirm with employee they have what is needed to meet goal Monitor performance on meeting goal. Work with employee to resolve issue when possible Provide feedback to supervisor on good performance and poor performance. Elevate when goals will not be meet. Support for supervisor (be an extra set of eyes & ears for your supervisor) Watch for attendance issues Monitor early or late arrivals and departures.
