The AHEAD Education Group will launch the pilot semester for an American high school Diploma Program opening this September in Xi’an, PRC. The program is housed at Xi’an’s most prominent high school. The pilot semester will focus largely on establishing and integrating the pedagogical standards and program protocols of AHEAD's Chinese and American NAIS partner schools in preparation for the full program launch this September. The teacher will primarily teach tenth graders who have met particular benchmarks when being admitted to this program.

AHEAD is hiring for the following positions to teach for the remainder of the 2013-14 school year for this program.

-Physics Teacher (Conceptual Physics)
-Business (Intro to Business and Econ)
-Mathematics (Pre-Calculus)

Successful candidates will join the international staff of our NAIS school partner.

The teacher reports to the Program Manager or Academic Director. Teachers are responsible for all aspects of the classes they teach, for participation in various departmental and school groups and endeavors, and for participating in other capacity as assigned by the administration. Students enrolled in the program are selected based on prior achievement and/or testing. This is a contract position with an eleven month term renewable each year thereafter depending upon performance. Teachers may sign a summer school contract if desired. Renewed teachers will officially join the international staff of the partner NAIS school.

Major Responsibilities
• Teach a full load of classes (18-22 classes/week) as assigned, with a focus on individual and project based learning.
• Assess and report on students’ progress.
• Deliver regularly scheduled progress reports and at other times as necessary.
• Provide individual or small-group academic help to students.
• Serve as an academic advisor.
• Perform other duties as necessary or as assigned.

Requirements
• Bachelor’s degree in teaching field, Master’s degree preferred.
• Demonstrated interest in the Grade 9-12 education of students.
• Education and experience in American school system preferred.
• Comfortable with computer technology.
• Ability to work cooperatively and diplomatically with students, parents, faculty, staff, and administration in a foreign cultural environment.
• Commitment to student learning and to continued professional development.
• Ability to engage students in learning.
• Enthusiasm for field of study and working with adolescents.

Please note that this job is full time and the program is more akin to an international school program with a structured curriculum and protocol. Teachers are expected to be professional, available, and team players.
