Job Description

YOUR TASKS AND RESPONSIBILITIES

 

The primary responsibilities of this role, Program Management Leader, are to: 

 

  • Be responsible for elaboration of program strategy, along with Global Development Leaders (GDL) and other Global Program Team (GPT) Core Team members, serving as a highly-experienced strategic and tactical "thought partner" to the GDL and Core Team;
  • Lead key meetings, workstreams, and/or subteams to meet strategic and tactical goals of the program and acts as Deputy for the GDL, as necessary;
  • Participate in key external meetings in support of the project, unless otherwise agreed with GDL;
  • Be responsible for effective and efficient working of the GPT by:
    • Driving Core GPT and GPT meeting content, facilitating decision-making and communicating action;
    • Partering with GDL to adapt Core GPT involvement as needed, depending on critical topics and issues being addressed.
    • Serving as key contact for program-level technical and strategic information and communications, within the team and outside the team;
    • Ensuring enough and timely flow of information and communication within the GPTs on global level
    • Building relationships in- and outside of Global Program Teams to enhance effective communication;
    • Seek for process and communication improvement and actively obtains feedback from GPT members and key stakeholders;
  • Be accountable for establishing integrated, cross-functional, multiyear program plans which deliver against the Target Product Profile, implements and tracks plans against agreed timelines and budget:
  • Establish, track and adjust optimized multi-year development plan for a highly complex complete program comprising of various projects from PoC to launch;
  • Elaborate timeline and/or budget-optimized development scenarios and aligns activities in close interaction with global development functions accordingly;
  • Define and plans development milestones including, but not limited to, getting decisions and Go/No Go decision points;
  • Drive timely development of GPT goals annually, managing goals at the Team level, and communicates changes within the portfolio construct (i.e. Oncology Development Committee (ODC) Program Goals and PROMIS);
  • Partner with key functions and senior management to plan for, and drive, event-driven workstreams (e.g. data readout communications, submission planning, new project proposals);
  • Establish and tracks program budget. Under the accountability of the GDL, he/she is responsible for the quality of the forecasting and management of the external budget in order to achieve budget targets and be responsible for presenting budget at Latest Estimate (LE) meetings;
  • Alert GDL/Program Team, relevant functional controllers and Management of budget changes and proposes corrective actions;
  • Ensure accurate, up-to-date development inputs (timelines, costs, risk) for portfolio-level processes such as Holistic Portfolio Review, FC and LE;
  • Drive and steers the implementation of the program strategy by ensuring resource and budget availability in close alignment with the R&D functions;
  • Identify and anticipates issues, e.g. related to budget, project milestones and leads mitigation and resolution efforts as required for defined sub-program issues;
  • Be responsible for preparing, updating and adjusting the holistic program risk/opportunity profile and mitigation plans;
  • Conduct or contribute to periodic and systematic program reviews (e.g. Program Strategy meetings, Program Risk Management meetings, Lessons Learned or Cross-Program budget reviews) in order to improve the efficiency of drug development as well as to strive for earlier identification of critical success factors and to facilitate portfolio analysis, risk-management and decision-making.
  • Document program progress and status.
  • Ensure consistency, correctness and completeness of information of the various programs / projects within a program in the different reporting systems, including PROMIS, which can be relied upon as the source of valid project information for internal and external communications and planning purposes;
  • Where applicable, manage routine communications with (co)- development partners for licensed-in products;
  • Delegate the responsibilities noted above to the PM in the case of a complex and/or very broad development program where a Program Manager is appointed to work with the PML and GDL;
  • Implement development strategy and to manage all aspects of various global development programs or a highly complex complete Program comprised of various projects;
  • Execute on strategic directives set by the GDL/Core Team, be able to influence outside direct reporting lines and can work independently to drive goals, lead workstreams/subteams, and represent the GPT as needed or as delegated by the GDL;
  • Be accountable to the GPT and to the organization for managing the program at the portfolio level with respect to milestones, risks, and budget.

Required Qualifications:

 

  • Bachelor’s degree, preferably in the natural sciences;
  • At least 10 years of relevant professional and academic experience with at least five years of pharmaceutical industry experience, of which at least three years should be related to drug development;
  • Demonstrate ability to effectively lead a multi-disciplinary drug development team including exceptional technical and professional maturity;
  • Experience in one of the functions related to pharmaceutical development (e.g. Research, Regulatory Affairs, Clinical Dev/Operations, Medical Affairs, Product supply, Marketing) and working experience in multinational and multidisciplinary drug development teams;
  • Demonstrate evidence of leading with a strategic mindset and the ability to use business insights to drive decision making;
  • Demonstrate sophisticated capabilities in navigating stakeholder relationships in complicated organizational structures and demonstrate capability in engaging senior leadership;
  • Fluency in English in both written and oral communication skills, including ability to analyze scientific and business information;
  • Ability to represent the program through presentations and discussions in senior leadership forums/meetings and with external collaboration partners;
  • Excellent interpersonal skills, including ability to effectively motivate, delegate, coach, mentor, and collaborate in team settings and with external partners;
  • Demonstrate ability to lead cross-functionally, including organizing and running effective meetings.

 

Preferred Qualifications:

 

  • Bachelor’s degree in the natural sciences;
  • Advanced degree: (Especially for programs in early stages of development);
  • Prior experience in Oncology
