Job Description

Monthly Salary Range: HK$53,625 – HK$77,990

Duties:  The appointee will be responsible for overseeing HKU SPACE part-time programmes in Chinese languages (Putonghua and Cantonese), philosophy and Buddhism studies as well as courses and special programmes commissioned by the Education Bureau or government departments.  He/She will perform programme management and administrative duties.  The scope of duties includes admission, programme development and promotion, preparation of course materials, course delivery, invigilation, complaints handling and preparation of annual budget and monitoring reports.  He/She will also assist in planning annual events (e.g. School Open Day) and other special projects as required.

Requirements:  Candidates should at least possess a master’s degree in Chinese language, education or related disciplines, with 8 years’ relevant experience in the areas of Chinese language education. A doctoral degree or a relevant professional qualification will be an advantage and experience in teaching Chinese to non-Chinese speakers is preferred. They should be able to demonstrate leadership in their areas of expertise and track record of working with various sectors, including professionals, government and non-government institutions, and media in the field. They should have strong leadership and supervisory skills, capability to manage resources effectively, strong communication and interpersonal skills and excellent command of written and spoken English and Chinese (including Putonghua) 

Terms of Appointment: Salary placement will be commensurate with qualifications and experience.  The contract will normally be for 2 years with the possibility of renewal subject to review.  A contract-end gratuity (taxable) will be payable upon satisfactory completion of the contract.  Medical and dental benefits, annual leave and the use of sports and library facilities will be provided where applicable.  The School also provides staff development opportunities.
