The opportunity:
We have a newly created Project Actuary role to provide actuarial support across the Financial Reporting function in Finance. In this role, you’ll report to the Head of Actuarial and will provide insights, and financial advice to the business, manage actuarial projects and will work cross-functionally across the business with a variety of stakeholders across different project groups.
About the role:
Lead, manage and support other areas of the business by providing commercial advice on financial matters.
Proactively identify opportunities for efficiencies, minimisation of costs or financial gains.
Act as a subject matter expert for the Finance Division by providing advice on matters of insurance risk to all areas of the business.
Provide support to other Actuarial teams on specific projects within agreed time frames.
Provide support for managing the profitability of customers over their life time.
Support the Finance team as a roving actuarial resource across all types of work.
Provide technical peer review to the work produced by the Finance team.
Mentor and coach actuarial analysts, and senior actuarial analysts to develop their technical capabilities.
Demonstrate leadership and proactively take ownership of emerging issues and challenges.
Ensure appropriate consideration is given to customer value in all activities undertaken.
About you:
A qualified actuary.
Experience within the general or life insurance field.
Strong business acumen and ability to deal with ambiguity.
A track record of a results driven approach.
Project and team management skills (including ability to scope and plan projects, time management, delegation of tasks, leadership, mentoring of junior staff etc.).
Proven ability to engage with non-actuarial stakeholders and business partners.
Knowledge and understanding of theory and practice across at least some aspects of actuarial work (e.g. experience investigations, pricing, valuations, solvency and capital management, reinsurance, predictive modelling etc.).
Proven strong technical skills including software skills (such as Prophet, Glean, DCS and R) and analytical skills.
Comply with continuing professional development requirements and professional standards of the relevant actuarial body.
