Digital Health R&D’s ambition is to transform healthcare, powered by digital, science and collaborations,
to deliver the healthcare outcomes and experience that patients care about the most.

The Digital Health R&D journey incorporates 3 key stages:

  • Stage 1 – foundational, re-imagine how we work, by maximizing the use of digital, data and analytics transform processes within R&D to gain significant benefits on speed of the portfolio (goal 9 months acceleration) productivity (goal -20% reduction in cost per patient per year) quality at source, patient experience and probability of success.
  • Stage 2 – advanced, redefine clinical trials and digital health to improve overall patient experiences and outcomes, example redefining patient populations, remote clinical trials, patient apps to reduce/manage adverse events and improve patient outcomes (OS), using data from EHMr and RWE instead of control arms, and through PROs and continuous patient monitoring, creating new end points enabling studies in earlier stages of disease (ctDNA changes) prolonging significantly patients’ lives
  • Stage 3 – future-readiness, re-imagine healthcare, examples, AZ as a healthcare provider beyond medicines for certain indications (example: Breast Cancer, proving monitoring, predictive analytics and therapies for improved outcomes), full integration of Multiomics (imaging, genomics, proteomics …) to better predict and significantly improve patients’ health

This role will support efforts across the Oncology Digital Health R&D space. Oncology will be the largest therapeutic area in AstraZeneca and is growing at significant pace, with a portfolio that will make AstraZeneca a top player in the industry in the next decade. It’s vision is to push the boundaries of science to change the practice of medicine, transform the lives of patients living with cancer and ultimately eliminate cancer as the cause of death.

This role will provide administration support for assigned Project Leaders within the Digital Health R&D function. The Project Administrative Coordinator is pro-active and collaborative, adding value by working with the other administrators in their function and more broadly within AstraZeneca to ensure the team they support can deliver on their priorities. The role can involve executive level contact globally, in a dynamic and complex business environment with sensitive and confidential information. The role holder will need to be well versed in administrative support, reporting, documentation, ensures reporting documentation is updated and escalates deadlines and outstanding actions to Project Leaders

Typical Accountabilities:

  • Possesses excellent overall knowledge of customers’ needs and the business and utilizes this knowledge to provide proactive administrative support.
  • Coordinate meetings, travel or expenses. This may include workshops with many attendees, booking meeting rooms, dealing with travel proactively, and managing expenses for the team.
  • Coordinates preparation of internal and external reports, requested by business team through gathering, analyzing and summarizing data and information from the project team
  • Co-ordinates, collates and communicates information at the detailed level, possibly of a technical or statistical nature
  • Ensures the production of reports or analyses, to meet quality standards, and provides interpretation of data
  • Reconciles figures or information from various sources, ensuring completeness and accuracy, and follow-up on discrepancies
  • Prepares and/or edits meeting agendas, minutes, presentations and tables
  • Prioritizes workload, and that of others as appropriate, to achieve personal and function targets
  • Tracks project changes and produces updated project based schedules as agreed with project management
  • Supports the preparation of a budget and forecast reports to ensure projects align with initial cost specifications
  • Independently and pro-actively resolve issues and challenges relating to administrative requests
  • Work collaboratively with Global Colleagues to deliver a lean, consistent and professional administration service to Digital Health R&D
  • Follows best practices, develops new best practices, and creatively completes administrative tasks
  • Participate in and contribute to administrative continuous improvement activities

Essential Requirements:

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • 3 or more years of relevant administrative/project experience
  • Experience working in a fast-paced global environment
  • Specialist knowledge in relation to administrative/business support activities in the relevant area
  • Proactive customer service skills, written and spoken communications
  • Can create and maintain systems for efficiency for both self and others
  • Ability to format documents for consistent, professional appearance

Desired education, skills, and experience:

  • Bachelor's degree
  • Experience working in a pharma or healthcare environment
  • Experience using excel and other software to manipulate data and run reports
  • Experience managing SPO sites including creating and managing permission groups, creating new sites, and adding design elements
  • Experience leading peer to peer training
  • Knowledge or experience of Agile Working Practices.
  • Knowledge or experience of a recognized Project Management Methodology.
  • Experience with a variety of virtual meeting technologies, information management software, and Microsoft products
