Job Description

The appointee will report to the Secretary General of ASHK and to provide support to the ASHK Secretariat, including taking responsibility for the daily operation of the centre. The centre will provide information on science and engineering to the public through various media, such as videos, posters, printed materials, image and text displayed on computer screens and displaying of science and engineering prototypes and artifacts. Meetings relating to science and engineering will also be held. Duties of the appointee include managing the daily operation of the centre; developing and scheduling of centre activities; organising visits from the public, including students; reception and briefing of visitors; promotion of the centre through various channels and media; obtaining and organising the display of information and objects; liaison with other organisations, including overseas ones and others duties as instructed by the Secretary General of ASHK.

Applicants should have (i) Bachelor’s Degree, preferably in science or engineering, with at least two years post-qualification working experience in a similar capacity; (ii) good communication and interpersonal skill and the ability to work well with others; (iii) a good command of both written and spoken English and Chinese (Cantonese and Putonghua); (iv) a strong sense of responsibility; (v) the ability to work independently with minimal support and under pressure. The applicant should also be (vi) well organised and mature; (vii) self-motivated; and (viii) proficient in using common office productivity software packages. The appointee will usually work in Science Park in office hours but working in irregular hours (including evenings, weekends and holidays) and at other places will be required from time to time.

Appointment will made through a 2-year fixed term contract renewable based on performance, availability of fund and the need of ASHK. Salaries will be competitive and commensurate with qualifications and experience. The ASHK Secretariat practices five-day work week and offers a comprehensive fringe benefit package, including medical and dental care, annual leaves, plus a 10% of total basic salary contract-end gratuity. The terms mentioned herein are subject to revision.

The appointee is expected to report to duty by early October 2019.
