JOB PURPOSE

The Project Coordinator (PC) is responsible for maintaining and providing our full line of products and services to their named accounts. This position will be required to have overall knowledge of all assigned accounts and will be responsible for the quality, efficiency, and cost control of these accounts. The PC will also assist the sales representative by building a relationship with key players within their accounts and all subsidiaries and becoming a trusted advisor on projects and solutions to meet their needs. The position requires significant time working closely with internal and external technical, management, production and sales staff.

 

ACCOUNTABILITIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Review assigned jobs and assess need for additional information, e.g. compilation of glossaries, previously translated similar documents, list of acronyms, technical terminology, and translation memories
  • Manage translation teams and linguistic assets to ensure compliance with SDL production workflows and ensure that quality and turnaround standards are met
  • Select and assign translation teams, negotiate rates and deadlines and coordinate production with translators, proofreaders, in-country client reviewers, typesetters, Audiovisual and Technology partners and Customer Service Reps
  • Keep Salesperson/Customer Service Rep updated at all times
  • Keep project admin updated at all times and maintain accurate records of all costs
  • Check project costs for accuracy and match to purchase order
  • Exercise sound judgment in keeping Production Lead informed of potential difficulties
  • Inform Production Lead of all issues affecting cost, quality and turnaround
  • Check accuracy of translation prior to client delivery or typesetting

 

QUALIFICATION

  • Bachelors and/or Masters degree in Translation/Interpretation or equivalent experience
  • Fluency in English and Spanish
  • Strong IT skills (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Acrobat) and basic knowledge of programming languages (html, xml)
  • Familiarity with desktop publishing software (Indesign)
  • Linguistic skills including creating glossaries, assessing quality and completeness of translations
  • Advanced translation memory and CAT tool experience
  • Good understanding of Machine translation, the challenges and how it fits in the translation industry
  • Advanced Quality assurance tool experience including QA Distiller and Xbench
  • Ideally three years’ previous project management experience in translation services
  • Ability to prioritise workload while handling multiple projects simultaneously in a fast-paced and time-sensitive environment
  • Excellent communication skills and the ability to accurately convey detailed instructions to multilingual vendors
  • Attention to detail
