Job Description

About The Role:
The Project Delivery Manager will work in the Group IT function where they will lead, develop and manage a growing Project Delivery team that focuses on delivering varied IT projects & programmes for the Organisation.
The Project Delivery Manager will oversee the delivery of the projects from a prioritised Project Portfolio. Projects in the portfolio will cover multiple IT disciplines such as infrastructure, networks, office relocations, software delivery and Service Improvement initiatives. The Project Delivery Manager will also run their own projects & programmes. 
The candidate must be able to work independently to deliver against project goals and deliverables efficiently and effectively. They should also be able to work on a variety of projects simultaneously while leading the project team in delivering against the overall project objectives. 

 

Key Responsibilities: 

* Operational Excellence – Leads large and complex project teams and is responsible for the management of all work stream tasks, financial targets, project methodology, resourcing and staffing, and deliverables. Is fully accountable for meeting project objectives and managing a variety of stakeholders across the organisation. Project teams consists of diverse work streams spanning multiple organisations. 

* Delivers Quality, Value, Results – Applies significant business expertise to establish and/or influence project goals, works closely with executive leadership to set expectations, and identifies appropriate strategies for success. Works closely with the project team and stakeholders to proactively monitor and adjust complex aspects of the plan to ensure success. An appreciation and understanding of Business Change principles and approaches are essential.  Enables project team to proactively identify and resolves issues and acts as an escalation point for critical issues. Interfaces with executive leadership to garner support for project team. 

* Functional Excellence – Leads initiatives to improve project management processes across the organisation that can have overall company impact. Helps to develop expertise within the project management function by coaching and mentoring others and providing performance feedback. Acts as a role model to others and helps to develop expertise within both the project management function and client by coaching and mentoring others and providing thought leadership. 

* Relationship Building – Builds trust and confidence with executive leadership when dealing with complex projects and/or issues. Collaborates with and influences internal groups to ensure projects are effectively staffed and resourced to deliver the best outcome.

* People Management Responsibilities – Successfully leads a team of people, focusing on their Performance Management and Learning & Developing as well as responsibility for Staff planning including recruitment and onboarding. 

 

Job Specific Responsibilities:  
o Liaising with internal business and technical teams to ensure business requirements are defined, documented and delivered. 
o Managing relationships and contracts with third-party technology suppliers/partners
o Owning and managing all project management deliverables including the delivery plan and RAID logs, as well as matrix management of project resources. Managing and mitigating risks and issues and tracking all decisions/dependencies.
o Agreeing project governance, suitable for the project, and ensuring that it is aligned with the Project Governance Framework.
o Performing stakeholder analysis and building a stakeholder communication plan for stakeholders across the business (e.g. developers, business leaders)
o Managing projects from vision through requirements, design, build, and test and post implementation support (including an appropriate gating process).
o Ensuring that the new capability is handed over to operational IT support and that it can be maintained and supported by the Group IT organisation.
o Supporting the business owner in tracking and monitoring benefits realization against planned targets

 

Qualifications & Experience:
* 10+ years’ experience of leading large sized cross-functional IT projects and programmes (both budget and complexity), following a known project management methodology.
* Prince 2 Project Management certification (or equivalent) at Practitioner level 
* Experience of delivering projects in the following disciplines:
o IT Infrastructure or IT Operations
o Software and business applications such as Sales, Marketing, HR or Finance systems 
* Experience in line managing, leading and mentoring a team of Project Managers. Prioritising the Project Managers work, managing their capacity as well managing the performance of those team members.
* Experience in overseeing the successful delivery of a portfolio of projects and business functions roadmaps of change. 
* Excellent Stakeholder Management & communication Skills
* Demonstrable problem solving skills with ability to facilitate problem solving discussions & workshops
* Ability to prioritise and manage deliverables, tasks and teams in a high pressure environment to maintain critical path and meet stretching goals
* Excellent interpersonal skills
* Experience of working in a global role is desirable
