Eaton’s Engineering Service & Systems division is currently seeking a Project Engineer to join our team. This position will be based at an Eaton office in one of the following locations: Chandler, AZ; Wilsonville, OR; Tukwila, WA Eaton's Electrical Services & Systems team offers a comprehensive portfolio of services tailored for every stage of a power system’s life cycle—whether it’s design, build, or support. Our services integrate and optimize the elements of a power system to make sure it’s aligned with business goals. We can help keep your power system safe, efficient, reliable, and up-to-date. Eaton has one of the most experienced teams of project engineers in the industry, with industry-standard software and advanced modeling and analysis capabilities at their fingertips. This multi-disciplinary team brings extensive skills, experience and design processes to project engineering in support of Eaton’s Project Operations business. Active participation in technical societies such as IEEE and collaboration with a variety of utilities and industries ensures that our engineers are knowledgeable about today’s cutting edge engineering techniques. We assist customers at every stage of the power system through asset modernization and new project design from power generation, to synchronous condensers, to substation and distribution substations, to renewable energy and smart grid engineering, and a wide range of other power focused projects. The Project Operations team's focus is developing and managing turnkey projects for government, commercial, industrial, and utility customers. This team has a national reach, providing support for key customers, project engineers and our project management staff. The purpose of this position is to provide protection and control design engineering services instrumental to the completion of turnkey projects. This position is to support other project engineering leads and create protection and control design documents. The project engineer is responsible for supporting design deliverables as a protection and control team to maintain project schedule, design budget, design accuracy, and submittal completeness working in concert with a broader designer team. The Engineer is charged with value added engineering to provide a quality product while driving efficiencies. The applicant will work with other engineering team members and stakeholders to insure the highest levels of engineering capability, quality and delivery of both engineering only and design build contacts. In this function you will: Engineer and design power systems Integrate new technologies Provide engineering recommendation and technical guidance Manage project technical deliverables and estimates Support construction and commissioning activities. Qualifications Required (Basic) Qualifications: Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering from an accredited institution Minimum of (3) years of engineering experience Legally authorized to work in the US without company sponsorship Must reside within a 50 mile radius of the work location(s) listed on the posting. No relocation is being offered for this role. Preferred qualifications: Professional Engineer License PMP Certification 5 or more years of engineering experience Position Criteria: Successfully complete and maintain compliance with the safety program and policies Submit to periodic drug and background screens for compliance with customer entrance requirements in order to perform on-site work Ability to read & understand electrical schematics Ability to maintain schedule and budget Ability to work with engineering team members Ability to work with and lead manufacturing electricians Ability to work with Eaton procurement, scheduling, safety and financial systems Have a basic understanding of power system studies including short circuit, coordination, and arc flash. Knowledge and understanding of turnkey projects Experience with AutoCAD and/or MicroStation Excellent written and verbal communication skills Working knowledge of NERC/FERC, NESC, NEC, ANSI, NETA, IEEE We provide benefits that are industry competitive and focused on employee well-being.
