l The project engineer’s first and most important requirement is to flawless execute the transfer projects to meet quality, regulatory and timing requirement. He needs to understand the importance of quality and regulatory compliance in medical device industry. Quality is always No. 1 priority. Business goal can only be achieved only if parts are delivered with acceptable quality and on time.

l Communication skills will be also very important. The project engineer will have a lot of different interface (different Biomet Business Units in US and Europe, different suppliers), he needs to ensure all technical information and other requirements have been correctly understood by suppliers regardless of language barrier.

l The project engineer must manage the relationships between many different suppliers and Biomet SBUs. In order to have a long term partnership with our suppliers, he needs to have the ability to judge when there is conflict or confusion.

l Day to day duties:

• Ensure all technical/quality requirement understood by suppliers through Communication with Biomet sending sites
• Ensure Raw material, tooling, suppliers gages, Biomet custom gages, inspection plans are in place to launch transfer projects on time
• Execute transfer plans on time
• Technical support during RFQ
• Work with suppliers on Continuous Improvements with SPC and 6 Sigma methodology to analyze/improve suppliers’ manufacturing process capability
• Develop and execute supplier on-site inspection plan for ensuring that all products conform to Component Specification and Supplier Qualify Management Procedure as contracted
• Generate monthly supplier KPI report and define/execute continuous quality improvement plan
• Participate Quality Audits with SAT team for Asia suppliers
• Dealing with customer complaints, Initiate & track corrective actions, foresee potential quality/regulatory issues
