Siemens Mobility are recruiting for Project Engineering professionals as part of our Military to Rail Programme. The Military to Rail programme offers service leavers and former military personnel the opportunity of a successful career within the rail industry. This is our third time running this highly successful programme and we are delighted to be able to offer the opportunity to support your transition from the military into the Rail Industry. Applicants for these roles should be currently in the military or have left the military in the last 2 years. For Project Engineers we are looking for candidates located commutable distance from our offices in York, Birmingham and Ashby. Siemens Mobility Rail Infrastructure supplies railway markets the world over with solutions and turnkey installations for railway automation and telecommunication. Our customers are infrastructure operators and mainline railways all round the world as well as industrial railways and public transport authorities in cities and megacities. The Role: Reporting to the Lead Project Engineering Manager, this role will support the Project Engineering Team to manage and deliver the engineering aspects of tenders and projects within agreed timescales and budgeted costs and is responsible for its delivery and contribution to overall business performance. What will be my responsibilities? Assist in the delivery of Engineering activities to agreed time, cost, quality and performance requirements for large multidisciplinary projects. Support for managing the engineering risk elements of projects. Support for managing the engineering aspects of contract requirements. Support the management of the internal interfaces between the design, implementation and testing teams. Support engineering delivery tasks by effectively interfacing to both internal teams and external subcontractors. Plan, co-ordinate and manage engineering team tasks including the management and allocation of resources and equipment to deliver effectively and efficiently. Identify and support the management of project scope changes. Provide technical change management support to Project Managers. Regularly report engineering team task progress and status. Support for engineering assurance and governance by demonstrating compliance with standards, processes, procedures and requirements. Support estimating for engineering projects and tenders regarding engineering deliverables, resources, plans, technology, risk and process. Ensure tender and project tasks are delivered in accordance with the Safety and Quality procedures and meet all applicable legislative, safety and customer requirements. Ensure tender and project tasks are delivered and undertaken in accordance with customer Health and Safety procedures and requirements. Initiate, develop and maintain good relationships with internal and external customers, industry associations, suppliers and partners. The Person: This is a role that will suit any ex-military person who has demonstrable experience of managing engineering activities military projects or operations. There is no minimum rank that can apply and is open to all service arms. What experience and qualifications do I need for this role? Experience of leadership and management of development / implementation projects. Experience and knowledge of implementation Project Engineering processes covering development, design, construction, test, commissioning and handover. Proven flexibility in the role as it requires an element of travelling and unsociable hours working which may include night working, weekend working and bank holiday working. Excellent verbal and written communication skills with an ability to write clear, concise and comprehensive technical documentation. Desirable: Good knowledge of IT systems and software, especially Microsoft Office and Project. Excellent interpersonal, presentation and communication skills. Excellent organisational, time management and problem-solving skills. Full UK Driving licence. This assessment centre will take place at The National Rail Academy for Rail (NTAR) on 28th & 29th March 2023, with a targeted programme start date of 10th July 2023. Please make sure that you are available for these dates, as we do not know at this stage the time frame for future programmes. Upon successfully joining Siemens, you will undertake an intensive 6-week training period before moving into a permanent role within our Rail Infrastructure business. The roles on offer post training period are permanent positions and the pay and benefits associated with this role will be discussed with you at the offer stage.
