Job Description

DEPARTMENT OF CHINESE AND BILINGUAL STUDIES

Project Fellow (Ref. 20090714)
[Appointment period: twelve months initially, with possibility of further appointment]

Duties

The appointee will assist the project leader in a project which aims at supporting Ethnic Minority Primary Students for Smooth Transition and Social Integration through Home-School-Community Collaboration. He/She will be required to:

(a) assist in managing the project by taking a leading role in designing, developing and implementing different kinds of learning support activities for partner schools;

(b) take a leading role in the collection, analysis of data and dissemination of research results as well as project outcomes;

(c) manage a team of school-based development officers in conducting learning support activities in the partner schools;

(d) assist in managing the budget of the project; and

(e) perform any other duties as assigned by the project leader or his/her delegates.

The appointee may be required to work outside normal office hours, including Saturdays and Sundays, and will constantly be required to work outside the campus.

Qualifications

Applicants should have:

(a) a master’s degree in Chinese Language & Literature, Chinese Linguistics, Teaching Chinese as a Second Language or Second Language Acquisition with solid knowledge in the Chinese language;

(b) a local Teacher’s certificate or Postgraduate Diploma/Certificate in education;

(c) at least 5 years’ working experience in the education field, either as front-line teacher, or as curriculum/learning material developer;

(d) substantial experience in managing educational activities and in conducting education research;

(e) good leadership and interpersonal skills; and

(f) passion in teaching, children-friendly, organized, patient and detail-minded

Preference will be given to those who have knowledge of and experience in educational technology and media, curriculum and instruction, and development of multimedia Chinese language learning materials.

Remuneration

A highly competitive remuneration package will be offered. Applicants should state their current and expected salary in the application.

Note: Post is equivalent to “Project Manager” of the Hong Kong Jockey Club Project.
