Project Manager - COVID 19 vaccine GES

Location:  Sweden (Gartuna, Snäckviken) or UK (Macclesfield, Speke)

Business area

Global External Sourcing (GES) supports the Operations strategy by establishing global robust, stable processes and standards with our external suppliers across the world. We manage the sourcing, planning and supply of all our externally manufactured products into the AstraZeneca network.

We also support the introduction of new products and the integration of new companies ensuring that their supply chains are integrated successfully with those of AstraZeneca.

We currently have a 12 month FTC or secondment Project Manager position available.

The role:

The role will be focused on managing the contract labs and sample management of Covid vaccine. There will also be an opportunity to influence and support the post-pandemic supply chain of samples of the Covid-19 vaccine.

To be successful in this role, you should ideally have some analytical experience, project management as well as leading cross-functional global teams.

Key to this role is the ability to identify and handle risks, scenario planning, develop mitigation plans and lead the delivery to agreed timelines. You will possess strong communication, key business partner influencing skills, be able to give clear clarity and direction and hold people accountable on time critical activities.

Key accountabilities:

  • Implementing new and redesigned the sample management of COVID 19 vaccine samples.

  • This will include activities such as out-sourcing and technology transfer of test methods.

  • Leading global projects across multiple organisations, geographies and business areas.

  • Identifying and handling significant risks and developing associated mitigation plans.

  • You will engage with senior internal and external partners, sponsors and be their single point of accountability for samples of the Covid-19 vaccine.

  • You will define goals and lead delivery performance in relation to time, cost, and quality standards and regulatory compliance.

  • Actively act as a coach and mentor to other members of the teams.

Essential Skills:

  • Project management experience

  • Excellent partner management and influencing skills

  • Experience of working with suppliers

  • Experience of problem solving in a complex environment

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent in experience in a scientific, engineering or business field.

Desirable skills:

  • Experience and knowledge of the pharmaceutical industry

  • Technical knowledge in vaccine manufacturing and analytical technology transfers
