Working on the largest retrofit project in the rail industry in the UK, the Project Manager will actively contribute to the Decarbonation and Digitalisation of the Great British Railways for the customer Network Rail. As part of a 100+ staff strong project team across various sites and reporting to the Senior Project Manager, the candidate will be working with the ETCS On Board team, in close collaboration with the Engineering team. The Project Manager will be empowered to deliver a substantial part of the project scope, ensuring the requirements on quality, costs and time are met or exceeded. He/she/they will work with the various centres of competence, technology teams and subject matter experts across the wider Siemens business, to design and implement ETCS solutions for the Freight Operating Companies. The Project Manager role is a key role within the project environment, with involvement in a wide range of project activities throughout the whole project lifecycle. This role provides the chance to engage both in the UK and overseas, ensuring an international flavour to your knowledge base and is a fantastic growth opportunity within the Siemens PM community, for a candidate keen to establish a rounded career in a global digital railway industry. Key Accountabilities Ensure Health, Safety and Environmental requirements are complied with at all time (on site, in the office, when travelling) Promote the safety behavioural culture in the team and develop a safe working environment Develop Mental Health awareness Take a lead role in liaison with customer and Freight operators. Responsible for the delivery of specific work packages Produce programme updates and monthly reports to both internal and external groups Implement metrics to monitor and report on progress of activities Initiate and facilitate industry wide design reviews and briefings Work closely with the engineering team members in the UK and Germany, project groups, the lines of business and heads of technology throughout Siemens, to ensure that the project design solutions meet our customers’ needs now, and in the future Provide key input and ideas to help determine the most appropriate technical, product and commercial solutions within the given geographical and technical environment Support the other Project Managers and the Senior Project Manager with the delivery of the overall Programme Specific Skills/Tasks Proven experience of Project Management, ideally in a safety oriented industrial environment, of complex and high profile projects Experience of working with design teams to establish work programmes and tracking progress Review project management data for completeness and consistence Definition and monitoring of key performance indicators Production of high-quality reports Experience in liaising with subcontractors throughout the whole project lifecycle Must be willing to fill gaps in own knowledge and experience through taking a pro-active approach to learning and seeking information from within and outside the company. Demonstrates customer focus in all work carried out Strong and effective communicator at all levels within the business and in front of new and existing customers Experience of leading/participating in programme reviews with both the supply chain and the customer Experience of working to industry quality and safety standards Demonstrates innovative and creative thinking when performing problem solving initiatives Highly motivated, resilient, dependable, and self-reliant Strong desire to learn and grow Qualifications: Proven experience of this type of role within the rail or similar industry Desirable: APM qualification or similar Specific knowledge of implementing ETCS and/or CBTC systems An appreciation of implementing retrofit design solutions for systems such as ETCS, CBTC, TPWS, AWS, GSM-R, DAS etc Proven track record in working in major Sub-contract environments About us We’re Siemens.
