Greater China is the newest region at the GSMA, which was established only on 1 October 2016. We cover Mainland China, Hong Kong, Macau and Taiwan, and work with some of the world’s most influential companies both in the operator community but also the wider ecosystem. The Greater China team is headquartered in Hong Kong but is also represented in Beijing and Shanghai.

China is no doubt one of the most exciting and influential market in the world, with its massive economy of scale and national ambition to become a technology innovator and powerhouse as it transitions its economy. We cover three of the top five mobile operators in the world – China Mobile, China Unicom and China Telecom, and at the same time also look to engage more extensively with technology and Internet companies such as Huawei, Baidu, Tencent, Alibaba, and Xiaomi who are quickly becoming global leaders in innovation. Bringing in the wider ecosystem stakeholders to work more closely with the GSMA and mobile industry will help drive more innovations, better digital services and overall a better digital future for the economy and society as a whole.
About the Role
In the 5G era, the sustainable future of the industry hinges on our ability to explore and create innovations with the verticals for the enterprise services. This requires combined efforts from operators, ecosystem players and governments. This is also a game of scale where innovations can grow quickly and consequently be applied in more markets to the benefits of our members. We can help bridge the stakeholders to explore new business opportunities, through the GSMA’s unique platform uniting the mobile industry, as well as our 4YFN and GSMA100 projects, to match their network capabilities and investment with innovative ideas and solutions to better utilize 5G, coupled with other enthusiastic institutional investors, we can create a more comprehensive and focused environment in China.
The Innovation & Investment Project Manager reports to the Head of Ecosystem Engagement Greater China, based in Beijing. This role works very closely with public policy, strategic engagement, technology, PR/marketing, membership and GSMA Ltd functions to manage and execute the innovation & investment group.

The Innovation & Investment Project Manager reports to the Head of Ecosystem Engagement Greater China, based in Beijing. Responsibilities
- Work with GSMA Innovation and Investment Group internal and external stakeholders for guidance and synergies
- Formulate the project plan, manage the project deliverables and track milestones & progress
- Oversee incoming and outgoing project documentation
- Control, track and analyse the costs and budget associated
- Identify issues and risks during the project implementation
- Regular reporting including, but not limited to, monthly update to management
- Maintain and update relevant information databases
- Help execution of project related events, such as 5G Demo Days, 5G Innovations in MWC Shanghai etc.
About You
The successful candidate will have
- Solid project management experiences
- Experience within Tech, financial services or a start-up is preferred
- Proficient Chinese and English communication skills, both verbal and written
- Proficiency in productivity tools, especially Microsoft suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, Project)
- Project management certification preferred (PMP, ITIL, PRINCE2, Agile).
