The successful candidate will lead the automation Solutions Engineering team to successfully delivery complete control and instrumentation systems using Siemens technology for a wide range of exciting applications such as · Mine Winders · Conveyor Belt Systems · Stacker/Reclaimers · Mills · Integrated engineering of mining, cement, and metals process plants Mission/Function of the role: Designs, develops, and manages customer projects, according to defined Project Management (PM) standards and customer requirements, and with responsibility for economic results What are the responsibilities of the role? - Consults with customers on technical solutions, together with Sales Manager or Key Account Manager. - Clarifies customers´ targets and requirements, and/or specification in request for proposal (RFP). - Prepares participation in tender and leads negotiation with customers. - Coordinates overall planning of the project and decides on allocation of resources - Clarifies specification and continuously liaise with project team - Monitors milestone and adherence to budgets, and initiates actions to minimize non-conformance cost. - Maintains constant communication to customers, outside contractors or other stakeholders - May coordinate agreed commissioning measures onsite, together with Site Engineering Management. - Adheres to PM@Siemens standards and Business Conduct Guidelines (e.g., Tax regulations, Export Control, EHSQ). - Manages and coordinates all temporarily assigned project staff. - Typically manages various levels of technical support or professional staff in a medium sized project or in a part of a strategic project, most likely at local level - Prepare scope of work documents for various work packages within a project - Reports on project KPI’s to management - Prepares detailed resourced project schedules. - Ensures projects are delivered on time within budget and cost ensuring it is executed safely and at superior quality levels - Prepares the required PM documents (i.e project management plan, communication plan, deliverable lists) - Conducts project team meetings to alignment between teams regarding their tasks and deadlines - Participates in reviewing of bid offers prior to them being submitted. - Will be the main point of contact between Siemens Large Drives and the Client - Responsible for Contractor Management - Creating of formal notifications to clients and/ or suppliers - Looking for additional opportunities to either grow the existing projects or provide leads for new projects - Coordinates Engineering activities performed by a project team of professionals and technicians and controls execution according to the organizational guidelines. - Provides suitable work environment and implements people management processes. - Ensure high standards of engineering quality is maintained to achieve customer satisfaction and avoid non-conformance costs - Participate in clients design studies, Hazop and other activities as trusted advisor - Travel to sites (within SA and cross border) for installation & commissioning, site audits, project & tender meetings, iFAT, CFAT, SAT etc - Will be required to work extended hours on site as required on projects due to critical deadlines during installation & commissioning phases Qualifications and Experience - Bachelor of Engineering/Science/Technology, National Technical Diploma in Electrical Engineering (S4 or T4 or N6) - Current ECSA registration is an advantage - PM@Siemens and / or PMP certification is an advantage - Experience in projects ranging in budget from EUR700k to EUR2,5mio - Minimum 7 years’ experience in project management and leading small to medium sized team. - Demonstrated familiarity with electrical and control system engineering in target industries (Oil and Gas, Mining, Cement and / or Paper) this would include greenfield and brownfields projects. Competencies: - Proven track record in successfully executing projects within electrical and control system engineering in target industries (Oil and Gas, Mining, Cement and / or Paper) this would include greenfield and brownfields projects - Experienced in using Project Management Tools (i.e Ms Projects Primavera etc) - Fluent in understanding of Project Management principles - Strong negotiating skills - Evidence of team leadership capabilities - Able to unpack scope of work into smaller packages for the team to execute. - Able estimate effort required to complete scope of work - Able to communicate in a professional manner both verbally and written Reporting Manager: Solution Engineering Manager Location: Midrand Our culture: Our culture embraces different perspectives, open debate, and the will to challenge convention.
