Education Infrastructure Division
Salary : $ 44,126 per month (Gratuity : 10%) (Contract period : up to 3 October 2020)
Duties : (a) To conduct initial assessment of schools’ proposals for the “Grant Scheme on Promoting Effective English Language Learning in Primary Schools” and liaise with schools for clarification before proposal submission; (b) To serve as secretary in vetting panel meetings; (c) To follow up with schools on revision of proposals in light of the vetting panels’ advice/recommendations; (d) To monitor schools’ progress on implementation of approved school-based curriculum initiatives; (e) To evaluate the implementation of measures undertaken by schools; (f) To liaise with relevant EDB sections/divisions and SCOLAR Members on the implementation of the Scheme; (g) To render support to large-scaled events related to the Language Fund; (h) To report regularly to the supervisors on work progress; and (i) To perform any other duties as and when required by the supervisors.
Entry Requirements : (a) A Hong Kong bachelor’s degree, preferably majoring in English, or equivalent; (b) A certificate in education from a Hong Kong tertiary educational institution, preferably majoring in English, or equivalent; (c) Met the language proficiency requirements of level 3 or above in Chinese Language and English Language in the Hong Kong Diploma of Secondary Education Examination (HKDSEE) or in the Hong Kong Certificate of Education Examination (HKCEE), or equivalent [See Note]; (d) At least 5 years’ post-degree experience in teaching English in local public sector schools, preferably at primary level; (e) Experience in administrative work and/or vetting proposals in the Education Bureau preferred; and (f) Applicants will be required to attend an interview and a written test.
Remarks for Post : The Standing Committee on Language Education and Research (SCOLAR) was established in 1996 to advise Government on language education issues in general as well as on the use of the Language Fund.
