Job Summary
The Clinical Psychologist/Counselor applies psychological principles and techniques to problems of human effectiveness, maladjustment, and psychological disturbances. Evaluates, diagnoses, and treats psychological and neuropsychological disorders. The clinical psychologist/counselor teaches, supervises, and directs clinical psychology and related mental health programs. Provides highly specified applied psychology services offering advice and treatment for international adults and their families, ensuring appropriate diagnose and assessment with advanced interview techniques and evidence bases psychometric tests and treatment methods for all ages and disorders (DSM-IV-TR-ICD-10).
Essential Duties & ResponsibilitiesCLINICAL PSYCHOLOGIST.
Clinical Psychologists/Counselor delivers a variety of comprehensive psychological services to patients and clients, which includes complex diagnostic evaluation and testing, treatment planning and intervention, applied behavior analysis and the use of didactic, psychotherapeutic and behavioral techniques and principles to treat individuals, groups, families and children in crises intervention and therapy/counseling.
COMPLEXITY
- Requires the ability to conduct psychological assessments and diagnose using current DSM-IV-TR and ICD-10 classification systems and determine the need for more specialized care.
- Knowledge of a variety of psychological assessment used for diagnosis, treatment plan, treatment evaluation and treatment interventions such as cognitive behavioral psychotherapy, individual and group therapy, marriage counseling and program development and monitoring. .
- Psychological treatment of a wide variety of disorders (DSM-IV-TR) and all ages with international cultural backgrounds.
- High tolerance and understanding of cultural differences in evaluation and treatment of patients and clients.
- Skill in maintaining therapeutic relationships and services while complying with ethical and professional standards
- Clinical psychologists will consult with the Psychiatrist and other medical personnel regarding the best treatment plan for the patients, especially treatment that includes medications and psychiatric attention. Hereby the clinical psychologist works closely with the institutional Psychiatrist regarding patient’s referrals and case discussion and management.
- Clinical psychologist is obliged to write clinical reports of evaluation, assessment, diagnoses and treatment plan and treatment progress. Essential is to pay attention to ensure feedback out patients diagnose and treatment and progress to referring primary care physicians and all health care providers for referred patients. This applies as well to referrals out side the Parkway health Group to cooperating Institutions, like International SOS, Shanghai Psychiatric Hospital.
- Crisis intervention/Emergency referrals skills and ability to assess and manage risk of harm to self or others.
- Maintaining relationship and communication with health care institutions, such as Psychiatric Hospitals and for patients referrals and knowledge admission standards
- Maintaining relationship and cooperation with Institutions for crises intervention and emergency referrals, such a international SOS and international consulates.
- Required expertise in a specific clinical area such as cognitive behavioral psychology, clinical psychology, post traumatic stress disorders, grief counseling, substance use disorders, depression disorder, anxiety and panic disorders/ stress disorders, eating disorders and OCD and couple and marriage counseling
- In psychological treatment of children requires advanced knowledge of child development psychology, school psychology/educational psychology (behavior, performance and learning disabilities), such as, psychology of adjustment disorders, anxiety, depression and eating disorders, parents teaching and counseling by behavioral problems of children with, such as ADHD and ADD
- Communications, observation and information of treatment plan and interventions with school teachers, school counselors, school principal, administration is essential and required.
- Possess skills in administering and interpreting cognitive, achievement, adaptive behavior, vocational and personality tests to a wide variety of individuals with physical, mental and emotional disabilities.
- Skill in using various treatment modalities with minimal direct clinical supervision in the treatment of mental disorders and/or developmental disabilities.
- Work Closely with COO/Medical Chief of Staff to define projects, program development, institutional roles and governmental requirements that will meet patient’s needs and well being and support organizational strategies.
- Work closely with the clinical manager for clinical operational and administrational support, such as discussions about program variety, program delivery, required facilities and materials, scheduling procedure, in order to maintain clinical resources for optimal patient care.
- Clinical psychologist will works in a multi professional setting and will collaborate with different department and health care professional regarding shared cases and emphases on team work and multi modal treatment methods in order to provide comprehensive care in best interest of the patient.
Qualifications
Education and/or professional qualifications (minimum requirements)
- University Degree in Psychology/ Clinical Psychology- Master or PhD
- University Degree in Counseling- Master or PhD
- Post graduate education in counseling or equivalent
- 3-5 years working experienced as Psychologist/Counselor
- Experience in clinical setting desired or equivalent
- Must demonstrate empathy, responsibility, reliability and accountability for patients well being and sensitive to cultural differences

The Clinical Psychologist posses skills and knowledge of principles, methods, and procedures for diagnosis, treatment, and rehabilitation of physical and mental dysfunctions and will show integrity and excellence in delivering outstanding psychological services for patient and their families.
She/he will be empathic, responsible, constantly up to date about treatment and diagnostic of psychological disorders.
She/he has excellent active listening skills, giving full attention to what patient and clients say and taking time to interpret and asking appropriate questions.
She/he is social perceptive and is aware of others behavior and can understand why people react in certain manner.
She /He has critical thinking, using logic and reasoning to identify strength and weakness of alternative solutions, conclusions and approach to problems.
Her/his speaking skills can convey information effectively and systematically. Her/his writing and reading skills maintain effective communications with patients and medical staff in side and out side of the Institution.
She/he has observation and monitoring skills of individuals and groups to initiate improvements and correctives.
She/he posses complex problem solving skills, in order to identify complex dynamic problem patterns in individuals, their family systems and work relation ships in order to promote awareness, consult and convey alternative solutions.
She/he has inductive reasoning skills which regards to the ability to combine pieces of information to form general rules or conclusions (includes finding a relationship among seemingly unrelated events).
She/he is advanced in deductive reasoning, which regards the ability to apply general rules to specific problems to produce answers that promotes patients and clients ability to see pattern and work on problem solving. She/he has excellent written expression to communicate information and write reports and communicate effectively in the multi disciplinary team and out side the Institution. She/he has speech clarity to patients and clients to communicate and address interview, assessment and diagnostic of potential problems and solutions. She/he is a team player and a ambassador of psychological clinical programs and communicates effectively and friendly with in the multi disciplinary team of Parkway Health clinics and health care providers.
