Intel has announced a major expansion of Intel's production capacities in Europe and plans to develop two first-of-their-kind semiconductor fabs in Magdeburg, Germany, the capital of Saxony-Anhalt. Planning has started, with construction expected to begin in the first half of 2023 and production planned to come online in 2027, subject to European Commission State aid approval and funding approval by the German authorities.
As a Public Affairs Director, Magdeburg your responsibilities will include but are not limited to:
- Develop and implement strategic engagements in Magdeburg with community members, local officials, academic institutions, business and regulatory agencies as well as relevant chambers, industry and business associations to support Intel's license to operate, enable the site's growth and build Intel's reputation locally.
- Develop and drive public affairs strategies and programs that promote a positive reputation and business environment for Intel Magdeburg.
- Develop and execute strategic plans and programs that comprehensively address current, future business and regulatory needs, challenges and opportunities.
- Build a comprehensive network of internal/external contacts and maintain strategic relationships securing their support to address complex and sensitive issues.
- Establish the long-term vision and develop/drive strategic plans to engage local government, community, neighbours, and media/press.
- Collaborate with Intel's government team to align on policy, strategy and incentives, as well as with Global Communication Group to align on communications.
- Seek opportunities to understand the community's needs and identifying how Intel can support our community through employee volunteering, charitable contributions, and other initiatives.
- In the long term - Build and develop a skilled team of public affairs professionals and should possess exceptional people management skills.
- This role entails intensive planning, design efforts in various areas of this function, for this project and related projects.
- Responsible for developing and managing corporate affairs strategies and programs that promote a positive business environment and reputation for the company.
- Establishes a long term vision and develops/drives strategic plans for their organization that comprehensively address trends, issues, and the needs of all stakeholders.
- Develops and delivers strategic plans for the site/regional organization incorporating its core programs of government affairs, education programs, community relations, and communications/media.
- Drives proactive plans to manage complex public relations issues by identifying emerging issues that potentially have impact on Intels brand and reputation.
- Often responsible for representing the organization in legislative matters with federal, state and local governmental bodies.
- Establishes and maintains strategic and collaborative relationships with external partners, NGOs, academia, regulators and opinion leaders through a solid grasp of internal and community priorities.
- Builds a comprehensive network of internal and external contacts decisionmakers, industry influencers, policy makers to drive awareness of relevant Intel programs and policies.
- Represents organization before key internal and external partners and audiences, positioning Intel as a thought leader.
The scope of role requires new employee to be located in Magdeburg from first day of work. Interim location of this role is Home Based Office until office premises will be available, ETA: Q4 2022.
Qualifications
You must possess the below minimum qualifications to be initially considered for this position. Preferred qualifications are in addition to the minimum requirements and are considered a plus factor in identifying top candidates.
Minimum Qualifications
Candidate must have one of the following degrees and experience:
- Bachelor's degree in Government Affairs, Communications, Public Relations, Journalism, Marketing, Law or related field with 9+ years of related work experience.
- Master's degree in Government Affairs, Communications, Public Relations, Journalism, Marketing, Law or related field 6+ years of related work experience.

Work Model for this Role
This role will be eligible for our hybrid work model which allows employees to split their time between working on-site at their assigned Intel site and off-site.
