Job Description

As a Material Planner/Buyer at Rolls Royce Power System, you will be responsible for handling production material purchase and logistics to support product assembly production, develop, qualify and manage non-inventory material purchase from third party suppliers in terms of supplier assessment, selection, quotation, qualification, agreement & contract, quality and reliability of delivery

Key Accountabilities:

  • Implement and optimize purchasing procedures for all production materials purchase; Improve effectiveness of supply chain management by monitoring the performance of on time delivery and quality.
  • Work with internal departments, headquarter & subsidiaries, and third parties suppliers and logistics companies closely to manage the production materials supply from suppliers, including the cost, quality, delivery schedule, etc.
  • Communicate the short, mid and long term supplies with production material suppliers, and ensure suppliers are well prepared to fulfill our production demand; Assist the functional departments in the logistics evaluation of production material suppliers.
  • Assist in the quality control of all deliveries received from production material suppliers, including non-conforming components management with quality assurance staff, and to liaise with production material suppliers for the follow-up actions as necessary.
  • Serve technical assistance to local production material suppliers directly and where applicable, manage technical support through experts from MTU internal or external including Quality Management documentation and packing methods.
  • Implement procedures for non-production material third party purchase from supplier screening, assessing & selecting, request for quotation, negotiation, agreement & contract, purchase orders, delivery, close of purchase orders and payment application to suppliers; Manage the evaluation of non-inventory material third party suppliers in terms of quality, price and reliability of delivery, and lead to conduct the audit of suppliers.

Key Experiences and any Qualifications:

  • Degree / Diploma holder in Logistics / Engineering or similar, or possess equivalent qualifications, with at least 4 years relevant working experience
  • Rich experience on production planning and material planning is highly preferred
  • Some technical knowledge and/or background, and additional experience on MRO purchasing is preferred
  • Good command of both spoken & written English and Mandarin, good at office softwares
  • Good knowledge of ERP and/or comparable computer software applications required for the job function
  • Good experience and knowledge in the evaluation and management of suppliers; Good communication, negotiation skills, and is a good team player
