Job Description

Purchasing & Receiving Manager

Reporting to the Assistant Director of Finance & Business Support, you will lead the purchasing/receiving department. In that capacity, you will be responsible for negotiating, acquiring, and documenting all purchases authorized by the hotel, ensure that all hotel goods are properly received, stored, and issued. Additionally, you will be responsible for inventory controls and champion the purchasing systems.

What you will be doing:

  • Oversee operations of the loading dock and receiving areas
  • Ensure all orders are tracked, received and distributed accordingly
  • Implement and follow through on all back of house control methods
  • Check and analyze reports that have been compiled in connection with turnover, average cover price, ratios, cost of food, cost of beverage, business forecasts
  • Negotiate and obtain the lowest possible purchasing cost maintaining the agreed quality standards
  • Monitoring F&B cost control processes ensuring they are carried forward
  • Perform beverage ordering and monitor beverage requisition are issued against their sales report
  • Perform stock inventories as well as end of month reporting
  • Raise all purchase orders in line with business forecasts and reconcile invoices regularly
  • Understand financial issues and prioritize purchasing needs in accordance to budget levels
  • Manage the working relationship with all departments, vendors and distributors
  • Build, hire, train, lead, manage and coach a team in receiving, while ensuring their success and development
  • Champion all purchasing and procurement systems
  • Train leaders on purchasing systems
  • Ensure compliance with all company programs; follow department policies, procedures and service standards
  • Ensure compliance with health, safety, sanitation, and alcohol awareness standards and policies, while supervising regular audits
  • Other duties as assigned

 

Your experience and skills include:

  • Bachelor's Degree preferred
  • Previous purchasing or procurement experience (managerial level); preferably in a hotel or high volume food & beverage establishment.
  • Advanced knowledge of Microsoft applications and procurement systems
  • Knowledge of food and beverage inventory/purchasing practices
  • Excellent communication skills
  • Highly responsible, organized, and reliable

 

Physical abilities:

  • Exert great physical effort in transporting goods over 100 pounds
  • Endure various physical movements throughout the work areas
  • Reach 1-2 feet
  • Walking, sitting, bending, kneeling, pushing, pulling, and use of ramps and stairs

 

Visa Requirements: Must be legally eligible to work in the United States. The hotel is unable to assist candidates in obtaining work authorization documents.
