Job Description

Confirms electronic/electrical (E/E) functionality in the products that are produced at Plant Spartanburg. Solves problems for series produced vehicles which includes, but is not limited to, directing, coordinating and conducting complex vehicle electrical systems analysis and test activities for major programs and/or technical assignments with major impact in the Engineering Department and/or Plant Spartanburg. Ensures test plan includes variant planning in ATG to support the builds, in addition to a test plan for customer functions. Performs the test plan according to the maturity plan and vehicle availability (Test vehicles). Performs analysis and provides documentation of E/E issues including submitting tickets in problem solving systems. Steers and processes solutions from prototype to the final released solution. Processes and verifies software and hardware design changes in coordination with plant 10 and BMW AG Center of Competence departments. Collaborates with internal Process Partners (Process planning, rework, assembly QEs, etc). Defines a test plan to validate the E/E content for New Model products in plant 10 and coordinates with the E/E Test Manager. Provides technical or specialized guidance on E/E related topics to internal and external customers. Develops new programs with targets and/or administers programs with defined targets with accountability for the results to include budget processes and customer orientation procedures. Develops technical solutions within skill areas related to issues involving complexity. Operates with freedom to make decisions with minimal supervision. Promotes the principles and values of BMW Manufacturing in daily activities and planning functions. Complies with Plant Management Systems through appropriate training and awareness. Ensures continuous improvements for systems within area of responsibility. Facilitates Plant-wide processes for (PST) Problem-Solving Teams, 8D, and (CST) Cross-System Teams. Understands and models VPS (Value Added Production System) Principles and concepts of Standard Work and Problem Solving. Adheres to 5S and Safety Standards and Principles. Performs other duties as assigned by management.

  • BS degree in Electrical Engineering or Computer Engineering OR German equivalent OR the equivalent of 4 years automotive validation/electrical experience.
  • 5+ years professional automotive/vehicle electrical systems analysis and testing experience.
  • 3+ years ability to execute team targets associated with core functions.
  • 3+ years of documentation, report writing, and presentation development skills. 
  • 3+ years of ability to read, interpret, and understand technical drawings and specifications.  
  • 3+ years of computer skills with MS Excel, Word, PowerPoint, & Outlook as proven through business application.
  • 1+ years of ability to lead projects or special team assignments.
  • 1+ years ability to develop processes with internal & external organizations associated with department targets. 
  • 1+ years knowledge of E/E processes (e.g. software release schedule) experience in bus analysis (CAN, LIN). 
  • 3+ years German language skills, both written and oral (preferred).
  • Driver training (preferred).
