Quality Assurance Officer



Role overview



This role is based in Programme Management and Quality Assurance Office, within the Centre for Academic Affairs and reports to the Manager, Programme Management and Quality Assurance.



The role holder is expected to deliver administrative services to support the University’s academic governance and quality assurance processes which includesdrafting reports and formal documentation for programme applications from the Ministry of Education, China and the Chinese Degree Awarding Power application from the Department of Education, Jiangsu. This role will have a specific responsibility for supporting the University and departments seeking professional accreditation from external accrediting organizations.



The Programme Management and Quality Assurance Office forms part of the Centre for Academic Affairs which provides professional services support to departments and schools and includes the Professional Services Team of departmental secretaries and cluster administrators and the central teams of the Registry, Research Administration, the Graduate School Office, the Programme Management and Quality Assurance Office and the Academic Enhancement Centre. The Programme Management and Quality Assurance Office plays a key role in delivering services related to programme development and quality assurance.



Responsibilities



1. Assist the Project Manager based in Programme Management and Quality Assurance Office and academic departments seeking professional accreditation with regard to documentation preparation and on-site visits support;



2. Liaise with and provide high quality advice and guidance for academic staff and secretaries in departments and centres concerning programme application, amendment approval processes and quality assurance operations;



3. Work with academic departments and related offices in drafting, editing and proof-reading Chinese documentation as part of new degree programme approval application and Chinese Degree Awarding Power application processes to the Ministry of Education, China and the Department of Education, Jiangsu;



4. In coordination with other team members to ensure smooth coordination and implementation of internal quality assurance operations in alignment with strategies of Centre for Academic Affairs;



5. Liaise with external constituencies, including governmental agencies, quality assurance offices, university partners, external reviewers and assessors, as needed;



6. Collaborate with other team members and engage in documentation preparation and logistic arrangements for University of Liverpool (UoL) Annual Monitoring Visit and other quality assurance visitors;



7. Attend regular departmental video conference meetings between academic departments at XJTLU and their equivalent departments at UoL as a representative from Centre for Academic Affairs;



8. Undertake any other duties as assigned by the Office or Centre.

  • Experience of working in an office environment covering a range of administrative tasks (at least 3 years)

  • Experience of working in education, preferably in higher education context

  • Experience of involving professional accreditation validation







Education, qualifications and training


  • University bachelor’s degree

  • Educational background or professional experience in one or more of the following areas: education; communications; law; administration



General and specialist knowledge


  • Awareness of cultural diversity within an international environment

  • Knowledge of UK higher education system

  • Knowledge in quality assurance system
