Based in Shanghai, China and reporting to the Director of Quality in the USA, IL, the Quality Control Manager will be responsible for the assessment, management and continuous improvement of quality at Contract Manufacturers and suppliers. Must have strong spoken and written English ability.

Areas of Responsibility:

• Manage the Quality teams in China and the Asian Pacific Area. Create the inspection schedule and determine if the inspections should be carried out by a 3rd party inspection service or by a member of the company’s inspection team.

• Review the daily inspection reports and provide training and feedback to the inspectors to make sure they are filling out the inspection reports correctly. If there are any failing/rejected inspections, work with the factory to make sure the products are reworked and pass re-inspection before the product can be released for shipment.

• Track and analyze the inspection expenses and the number of inspection hours worked per week along with compensation time. Which inspectors should be sent to certain factories based on the travel and inspection expenses? Work to keep inspection expenses down while maintaining the integrity of our inspection process.

• Review the Quality Processes/Programs at the factories to ensure finished products consistently meet or exceed the quality standards necessary for complete customer satisfaction. Does the factory and our inspector understand how the products are used by our customers in the US and what are the expectations for fit and finish?

• Collaborate with Contract Manufacturers to continuously improve their capability to meet product specifications, process control yields and reduce waste while maintaining the integrity of the products.

• Work with the Merchandisers and the factories on improving our drop ship packaging as required.

• Review the Corrective and Preventive Action Program (CAPA), including supplier CAPA issues. Create CAP’s to address issues, work with the factory to implement the improvements outlined in the CAP and follow up after 1 month and 3 months to make sure the improvements detailed in the CAP have been fully implemented and are effective.

• Manage timely evaluation, investigation and resolution of issues / complaints related to product quality by leading quality defect analysis and elimination efforts.

• Communicate customer, regulatory and organizational requirements to the factories as necessary to assure product quality, contract compliance and customer satisfaction.

• Oversees the effective documentation and implementation of the quality management system to assure compliance with customer and regulatory requirements and the standards set by corporate/division policies.

Required Skills:

• Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Quality, or related technical field or equivalent combination of education and work experience.

• Strong written, verbal and interpersonal communication skills (Chinese and English).

• 10+ years’ experience in Engineering or Quality within manufacturing preferred

• Demonstrated experience establishing and managing quality systems with a thorough knowledge of concepts, tools and methodologies of quality management (Lean, ISO 9001)

• Analytical skills; statistical analysis expertise. The ability to compile and analyze data and look for trends or weaknesses that require process improvements by the factories.

• Excellent verbal & written communications skills. Written documents need to be professional in appearance and provide all the detail necessary to the person receiving the documentation.

• Strong proficiency in Microsoft Word, PowerPoint and Excel

• Ability to work with all levels within the organization and the ability to work in cross-functional teams.

• Strong project management and organizational skills

• Ability to manage the timelines and deadlines for multiple projects. Keeping track of issues that need to be followed up on is very important.
