Quality & Food Safety Senior Scientist, Birstall

Paternity leave cover for 12 months

 

Salary:  £ 33.000,00 - £ 45.000,00 (+ bonus & benefits)


The purpose of this job is to lead the implementation, maintenance, and continuous improvement of the site Quality Management System, and to lead initiatives that will ensure the site is fully complaint to all global Quality and Food Safety standards.  To act as the key site expert in Quality and Food Safety standards and processes, providing direction and support across all functions and operations. This role has become available for a paternity leave coverage and will be a 12-month fixed contract.

 

What are we looking for?

  • Degree level qualification in a relevant technical or scientific discipline (Food Science/Technology, Biological, Chemical, Engineering sciences)
  • HACCP Level 3 or 4
  • Lead Auditor certification
  • Experience in a similar role within an FMCG environment (minimum 2 years)
  • Good command of the English language
  • Experience in leading and managing projects in an FMCG environment
  • Experience in experimental design and execution
  • HACCP Team Leader experience in Food manufacturing 

 

What would be your key responsibilities?

  • Implementation and maintenance of the site Quality Management System (QMS).
  • Identification of opportunities to drive continuous improvement in the scope and effectiveness of the site QMS
  • Utilization of global gap assessment/management tools to create a clear roadmap to full compliance to all global Q&FS standards, and ensuring that the resources and capital required are secured and/or requirements are escalated
  • Provision of status updates on standard compliance to site, regional and global Q&FS teams
  • Lead and facilitate programmes designed to gain/maintain LRQA QMP compliance, and accreditation to selected external Q&FS-related standards
  • Define and coordinate internal and external auditing programmes as a means of driving continuous improvement in site performance and compliance to standards
  • Act as an internal auditor and facilitate external auditor visits
  • Liaise with, and host visits from, external regulatory authorities/bodies
  • Support and facilitate risk assessment and risk management activities across operations and functions, including change management, troubleshooting and incident management
  • Act as a member of Product Related Incident Management Process (PRIMP) teams and PRIMP Incident owner in the absence of Site R&D manager
  • Leadership for the definition and operation of site OPRP and HACCP systems and teams 
  • Reporting and analysis of key quality metrics (incl. consumer complaints), and the identification/implementation of activities required to improve performance and deliver against targets (e.g. Right First Time, product performance)
  • Lead and/or support Q&FS continuous improvement activities across other PNE sites, as determined by the Quality Management Team (QMT) network resource allocation process
