Eaton’s Electrical Sector is currently seeking a Quality Manager to join our team. This position is based at our Raleigh, NC location. Position Overview: Eaton’s Critical Power and Digital Infrastructure (CPDI) Division has an opening for a Quality Manager that will lead our newly formed Distributed IT (D-IT) business unit. This position can be based out of our Raleigh, NC or Chicago, IL locations. This position reports directly to the Quality Director of the CPDI Division. The role will be responsible for developing and implementing a strategy for leading the quality function across the Distributed IT business unit of the CPDI division by forming synergies between our Tripp Lite acquisition and legacy DPQ operations. This role will be accountable for driving functional performance results at the business unit level to improve customer satisfaction and global competitiveness. The individual will be responsible for leveraging proven and new tools and processes to achieve continuous improvement in efficiency and effectiveness of the Quality function and the Quality Management System. Additional responsibilities include new product development quality, supplier development, and customer quality and the individual will interface with Service, Product Management, Operations, Engineering, Sales, suppliers, and customers on a frequent basis. In this function you will: Provides Quality Leadership and builds organizational capability across the D-IT business unit to drive collaborative strategies and solutions to ensure active leadership from management and ownership by all employees. Identifies and leads Quality initiatives in coordination with Eaton Corporate Quality and CPDI Quality teams, with the target to improve customer satisfaction and minimize CONC. Identifies and coordinates Operational strategies & deployment for effective quality processes and tools, including: Six Sigma, APQP planning, PFMEA, Control Plans, Supplier Assessment, PPAP, process & gauge capability, Risk Assessment, Root Cause investigations, 8D, CAR/ DMR, and WISPER. Champions the Quality Management System/ EQS within the D-IT Organization. Identifies and leads prevention-based initiatives across the D-IT organization to address barriers and enable sustainable improvements in prevention-based quality systems. Responsible for overseeing utilization of EQMS to control and improve business processes. Ensures Customer Quality and Satisfaction. Ensures Customer Requirements deployment with Sales and Product Management functions. Maintains and improves data collection systems with the goal to obtain data, monitor, analyze and identify product and customer issues to drive investigations and root cause identification assuring closed loop short term and long term corrective and preventive actions to: Improve warranty CONC performance and achieve divisional goals Improve product line field performance and achieve divisional goals Improve customer satisfaction Collaborates with cross functional leaders and team members including Manufacturing Quality, Supplier Quality, Engineering, Service and Operations to drive effective closed loop corrective action process to improve overall product performance and customer satisfaction. Manages periodic warranty and customer issue reviews with cross functional teams Overall ownership of the Customer Quality Escape management process. Initiates, assigns, investigates and manages closure of corrective actions, including High Severity Customer Quality Escapes/Field Campaigns, and including the complete management of field campaign activity to achieve divisional goals. Interfaces directly with Eaton Service leadership, field engineers (CSEs) and 3rd Party Service providers as the direct liaison for customer Quality issue resolution and guidance. Drives key quality metrics including: Quality cost-of-non-conformance (Quality CONC), Supplier and Ext. Customer DPPM, Customer Escapes (HSCQE), Manufacturing Yields, and utilizes appropriate benchmarking and comparative data to drive continuous performance improvement and speed of response. Provides functional leadership to Plant Operations & Quality/ OPEX management to improve performance, including the identification and standardization of best practices. Serves on the PROLaunch Decision Gate Committee (DGC) for the D-IT business unit Global NPD Projects to ensure defect-free product and process launches. Ensures Quality Plan execution and Quality deliverables are complete in support of PROLaunch projects. Interfaces with Eaton corporate counsel and liability representatives as required to properly manage customer quality issues in accordance with corporate guidance. Drives internal & external Supplier Quality Development including deployment of processes targeting critical commodities and Focus Suppliers to significantly reduce supplier defects by improving capabilities, including offshore & direct source suppliers. Provides Lessons Learned feedback and data to the New Product Development process including Design Reviews, pFMEAs, Quality Plans and DFA/ DFM activities to facilitate continuous improvement. Supports the CPDI Quality Director with regional and global quality strategies and initiatives related to Customer Quality. Qualifications Required (Basic) Qualifications: Bachelor’s degree in Engineering from an accredited educational institution Minimum five (5) years of Quality Engineering, Quality Management, or related Engineering experience Minimum two (2) years’ experience of managing others Must be legally authorized to work in the United States without company sponsorship on an ongoing basis. Preferred qualifications: Master’s Degree Six Sigma Belt (Green, Black) certified ASQ CQE or CMQ/OE Certification Knowledge of manufacturing and Quality Management Systems (QMS) Knowledge of electrical power quality and distribution products and systems SAP Experience Project Management experience Position Criteria: Ability to demonstrate advanced problem-solving skills and methods -i.e. Six Sigma, A3, 5-Why, 8D, root cause analysis, and the associated statistical tools used to analyze problems, evaluate root cause and identify corrective and preventive actions to drive continuous improvement initiatives Ability to demonstrate strong data analytics capabilities (Excel, SAP, COGNOS, Oracle or similar) with the ability to setup and analyze multiple databases to obtain and identify actionable conclusions Ability to demonstrate interpersonal skills with the ability to lead projects across functions and organizations. Ability to work in a matrix organization, in virtual teams (across different locations), and cross-cultural environments Ability to effectively demonstrate verbal and written communication skills Ability to multitask, complete projects and deliverables with demanding deadlines Position involves significant internal and external customer contact requiring strong communications skills in customer and business critical situations.
