Job Description
Purpose of job
- This position works closely with the General Manager in monitoring the Quality & Safety function of the Ship & shore employees, identify shortfalls and enhance compliance
Primary duties and responsibilities
- Safety Gear – review, identify the best safety gear and standardise the same across the fleet
- Review the Safety and quality procedures from time to time, compare it within the industry and update as applicable
- Plan safety campaigns, initiation and follow-ups
- Work closely with the technical team to ensure safety campaigns are conducted and adhered to on all vessels
- Bring in innovation and new ideas to enhance the Q & S aspect within the fleet
- Devise quality and safety programs like other competitors and clients in the market
- Attend Industry Safety Forums to attain knowledge of what’s happening in the industry and implement Best Practice
- Follow up with all Superintendents / Vessels on Best Practice and ensuring Implementation of the same across the fleet
- Prepare Best Practice & Safety Related Bulletins
- Upkeep of SMS System on board and office
Education / experience / skills required
- Bachelor Science Degree in Safety, Health and Environment
- 2 years of relevant work experience in Quality & Safety
- Able to work independently with minimum supervision
- Able to meet deadlines and work under pressure
- Proficient in Microsoft office applications
- Fluent in written and spoken English is a MUST
- Strong team player with a positive working attitude
