In this role you’ll have the opportunity to work directly with senior managers and their teams to support positive changes in the way we work. The role involves consolidating, analyzing and reporting on the R&D project cost forecasts and actuals and gives potential to influence investment decisions. The role is a critical part of a dynamic, business facing finance group and you will work actively in finance and the broader business.
Main duties and responsibilities:
As a Business Analyst, you’ll provide analysis of external R&D costs for BioPharmaceuticals R&D (CVRM and Respiratory & Immunology therapy areas) to the Project and Portfolio Finance teams, as well as to the wider R&D group. Our senior finance stakeholders will rely on you to present analysis to them and this information will be shared between key decision-making governance bodies in R&D. You’ll also have a supporting role in the company quarterly portfolio review gaining insight to the wider business.
You will help coordinate the forecast process for external projects across the Project Finance group, working with key finance and business stakeholders to deliver a robust submission with accompanying analysis.
The role will involve producing monthly, quarterly and ad hoc reporting / analysis on project cost information and ensuring that this is undertaken as efficiently and effectively as possible through driving continuous improvement in the Hyperion and PLANIT systems plus reports delivered through the enterprise BI Software. You will be expected to take on an expert role in relation to the systems used by R&D Finance.
In addition, this role will give you the opportunity to gain exposure to critical areas of the pharmaceutical value chain and develop core finance skills. Not only that but this role has the potential to see you expanding your responsibilities with opportunities for multiple project deliverables across Portfolio Finance and the wider R&D Finance team. Essential requirements:
- A qualified finance professional
- Broad business / financial experience
- Be an analytical thinker, with the ability to collate & analyse data – be able to be detail focused but can step back to appreciate the big picture
- Advanced excel financial modelling and PowerPoint skills
- Ability to work with a wide range of finance and business individuals to ensure processes are delivered within required time frames
- Be well organised and efficient in handling large data sets
- Excellent presentation skills; communicating in a way that is both impactful and easily understood by a financial and non-financial audience
- Ability to interact and engage with senior managers in the business
- Focus on delivery – work well under pressure, be resilient and meets tight deadlines
- Be proactive in driving high quality data and challenging stakeholders effectively
- Set high personal standard, take personal responsibility for delivering top class service and product
- Maintain high ethical standards and demonstrate high personal integrity
- Flexibility - to respond to fast changing business needs on short notice
- Strong verbal and written communication skills (business language is English)
Desirable requirements
- Systems experience, including working with PLANIT, Hyperion, Tableau
- Active interest / background in Life Science industry
- Previous Pharmaceutical / R&D knowledge
- Experience of working within multi-disciplinary, cross-cultural global teams
