This is a R&D Engineer role reporting to the R&D / Technology Manager in the Business – Motion located in Shanghai, China. Primary responsibility for this position is to design industrial gear boxes from customer requirements. Responsibilities include complete gearbox and component design from the concept stage to finalized design. The successful hire will also be involved in the development of accessories for geared products.

Your responsibilities

• Providing technical innovation and supporting in the areas of gearing application.
• Working on new products development, supplier audit, establishing related design and testing specification.
• Performing failure analysis.
• Working on DFMEA and products manufacture process, gearing and gearmotor/coupling design and development.
• Designing gear geometry based on application requirements, bearing life and shaft stress analysis, coupling analysis.
• Creating 2D conceptual layouts of gearboxes, creating solid model parts and assemblies, producing assembly and detailed component drawings.
• Calculating dimensions, clearances, and tolerances, preparing Bills of Materials, providing technical support for development testing.

Your background

• Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical Engineering 5 years of engineering experience or master’s degree in Mechanical Engineering and 3 years of engineering experience.
• Should have major in Mechanical Engineering.
• Fluent in Mandarin (oral and written). Fluent English (oral and written).
• Good PC skills, Microsoft office, Gearing analysis equipment.
• Must be result oriented, have customer orientation, ability to work independently, motivational, have organizing and planning skills, goal-oriented and be analytical.
