R&D Process Engineer (m/f/d)

am Standort in Jena

Tasks & Duties:

• Lead the team’s Design for Excellence (DFX) efforts, specifically in areas of manufacturing, cost, procurement, assembly & testability

• Act as the Operations ‘Voice of the Customer’ link between the R&D team and manufacturing operations, ensuring a smooth transition from design to volume manufacture

• Ensure product/process R&D activities align with established internal product development systems

• Identify design / process risks through Failure Mode & Effect Analysis and other risk-focused tools, and resolve accordingly

• Consult on component and assembly specifications and drawings

• Build / co-ordinate manufacture of prototypes and fixtures using Rapid Prototyping or existing process

• Develop and implement manufacturing & test plans, and work with QA and manufacturing personnel to put new designs into production

• Identify and assess new materials & technologies which may improve designs

• Work as part of a team to assess existing products for DFX opportunities

• Work closely with cross-functional teams to fully comprehend issues, gather information and communicate results

• Contributes to team effort by accomplishing tasks within time standards, efficiently, as needed

• Write reports summarizing results of design project

Your Profile:

• Primary Degree level qualification in mechanical, electronic/electrical engineering or a science discipline, plus min 5 years of related work experience with a good understanding of specified functional area, or Master's degree in engineering with 3 years of related work experience, or an equivalent combination of education and work experience

• Experience with manufacturing processes, including molding, electro/mechanical assembly & automation

• Experience with GDT (Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing), quality measurement techniques and use of SolidWorks CAD

• Understanding of NFC/Bluetooth, and antenna design is an advantage

• Lean, six sigma training and statistical ability a distinct advantage (incl. DMADV or IDDOV methodologies)

• Demonstrated capability in process development and transformation

• Excellent written and verbal communication skills (German/ English) to support virtual program management requirements

• Clear demonstrated experience in working in a diverse cultural environment

• Excellent presentation skills to facilitate communication throughout the organisation

• Experience in design for human factors.

• Solid organizational skills including attention to detail and multi-tasking skills

• Strong working knowledge of Microsoft Office, SolidWorks, FEA, MoldFlow

• Demonstrates self-direction and excellent analytical and problem-solving skills

• Willingness to travel partly across EMEA and APAC
