The Job:

As an R&D Project Manager you will be responsible for managing multiple fee for service projects in the area of Antimicrobial Susceptibility Testing (AST). You will provide structure and discipline in project management, as you lead teams through the execution of the project, with transparent tracking of progress against plan. The role includes working with colleagues at multiple Microbiology (MBD) sites worldwide, in partnership with the fee for service Program Manager.
 
 
What you do will include:

  • Driving cross functional project teams to meet agreed deadlines & deliverables.
  • Providing clear structure and project management discipline as you lead teams through the execution steps of projects.
  • Working closely in collaboration with team members to:
    • Implement the work plan, including requirements of a bespoke Phase-Gate process.
    • Monitor and control the resources (time, money, equipment, etc.) required to complete the project.
    • Ensure the project milestones, milestone objectives and measures upon which the project will be evaluated.
    • Identify, track, communicate, and manage project level risk and uncertainty.
    • Escalate program level risks to the program manager.
    • Prepare and deliver justification for project to advance through successive Gates to the PhAST team, with the help of team members and stakeholders.
    • Manage changes in accordance with standardised processes.
  • Using appropriate project planning tools i.e. Microsoft Project
  • Working closely with other MBD sites within Europe and the USA, promoting collaborative relationships
  • With the project team, regularly review the quality of the work completed to ensure that it meets project standards
 

What we are looking for:
  • Demonstrated experience in project management
  • Demonstrated experience in working within a regulated environment e.g. 21CFR, ISO 13485 / 9001 and 17025.
  • Experience working in an R&D setting would be highly advantageous
  • Demonstrated experience in managing bodies of work within at least 4 significant past projects.
  • Strong working knowledge of various computer software and business systems, such as SAP, Microsoft Word, Excel, Project, and PowerPoint.
  • Experience using continuous improvement methodologies.
  • Strong oral and written communication skills.
  • Ability to prioritise multiple tasks functions effectively in a global, multi-site organisation.
  • Local and international travel may be required for this position.
