YOUR TASKS AND RESPONSIBILITIES

 

The primary responsibilities of this role, R&D Specialist II, are to: 

 

  • Have responsibility for a specialized laboratory Technology;
  • Be accountable for cross-functional work in multiple Platforms and process areas;
  • Solve problems of routine to moderate scope; optimizes workflows;
  • Validate methods using multiple data sources;
  • Use specialized scientific techniques to conducting experiments and process improvements;
  • Adhere to established protocols and techniques;
  • Operate and troubleshoot instrumentation;
  • Solve routine problems requiring original thinking and deductive reasoning of diverse procedures within specialized laboratory technology;
  • Prioritize and coordinate work within a large team and provides training to contingent workforce;
  • Maintain detailed record keeping and required documentation;
  • Achieve commitment to safety and adherence to safety protocols and best practices;
  • Perform a variety of experiments with accuracy skilled in organizing and reporting specialized reports, including analyzing and interpreting the results of experiments, production kpis, cost, benefit analysis, and lab related issues to partners and key stakeholders;
  • Thrive on meeting challenges, insist on high quality deliverables, demonstrate effective problem-solving skills, and will have proven initiative in some categories of accomplishments, either individually or as part of a group;
  • Take initiative in keeping current with developments in specialized area.

Your success will be driven by your demonstration of our LIFE values.  More specifically related to this position, Bayer seeks an incumbent who possesses the following:

 

  • Bachelor’s degree with at least two years of related experience in academia or industry, or Master’s degree in Biology, Chemistry, Engineering or related field with minimum years of relevant experience, or non-degreed with at least 10 years of relevant experience;
  • Strong molecular biology acumen with the ability to independently design experiments and analyze data;
  • High throughput laboratory automation experience with mechanical aptitude for operating and troubleshooting automation;
  • Proficiency with data analysis and visualization software.
