Job Description

YOUR TASKS AND RESPONSIBILITIES

 

The primary responsibilities of this role, Research and Development Specialist II, are to: 

 

  • Deliver daily and weekly targets;
  • Have primary or shared responsibility for a specialized laboratory technology;
  • Prioritize and can coordinate work within a large team;
  • Provide training to third-party reports;
  • Maintain detailed record keeping and required documentation;
  • Be accountable for cross-functional work within platform or across process areas;
  • Achieve commitment to safety and adherence to safety protocols and best practices;
  • Solve problems of routine to moderate scope;
  • Optimize workflows;
  • Validate methods using multiple data sources;
  • Use specialized scientific techniques to conducts experiments and process improvements;
  • Adhere to established protocols and techniques;
  • Operate and troubleshoot instrumentation;
  • Solve routine problems requiring original thinking and deductive reasoning of diverse procedures within specialized laboratory technology;
  • Be skilled in organizing and reporting specialized reports, including analyzing and interpreting the results of experiments, production Key Performance Indicators (KPI’s) or cost/benefit analysis and lab related issues to partners and key stakeholders;
  • Thrive on meeting challenges, insist on high quality deliverables, demonstrate effective problem-solving skills and will have proven initiative in some categories of accomplishments, either individually or as part of a group;
  • Take initiative in keeping current with developments in specialized area.

Required Qualifications:

 

  • Non-degreed with at least 10 years of relevant experience or Bachelor of Science with at least two years of related experience in academia or industry or Master of Science in Biology, Chemistry, Engineering or related field with minimum years of relevant experience;
  • Excellent organizational, interpersonal and communication skills to work as part of a team and across functions in a dynamic work environment;
  • Demonstrated ability to deliver results on established timelines;
  • Familiarity with ISO and quality considerations through workflow operations/management;
  • Proficiency with database applications and Microsoft Office applications;
  • Proficiency with data visualization tools such as Spotfire.

 

Preferred Qualifications:

 

  • Experience in plant tissue culture of row crop species and Agrobacterium mediated plant transformation;
  • Experience in medium preparation in a high throughput setting;
  • Experience operating and troubleshooting custom automation.
