European retailer is looking for a French Merchandiser Manager. The candidate will be located in the Shanghai sourcing office and will report directly to the the Business Development Manager.

The person will be commercially responsible of few products categories handled in the office and will manage directly a team of local merchandisers / assistant merchandisers.

Duties/Responsibilities :

• Supervise the work completed by the local merchandising teams for prospection, commercial negotiation with the manufacturers, organize the buying trips with the French buyers from head office, and ensure operational execution of the orders.
  

• Monitor the pertinence of the offers to the needs defined by the commercial teams of the France head office buying teams: validate the offers proposed match all parameters of the tender received.
  

• Implement the buying strategy of the company and convert it into in operational objectives. Improve the purchasing expertise and the prices negotiation with Chinese manufacturers.
  

• Know well the non-food industrial park in China in order to provide better management of suppliers’ portfolio
  

• Monitor the quality of service in terms of goods on-time shipment/delivery
  

• Work in close cooperation with commercial and operational teams of the France head office (purchasing, quality, logistics, import flows, IT... departments) in order to ensure the expected level of quality of service.
  

Required :

§ Graduated with a master in international commerce and/or international purchasing,

§ At least a 5 years’ experience in sourcing / purchase / import of non-food products, in particular of Hardlines products for a retailing chain (hypermarket, specialized chain…),

§ Master the techniques of importation (landed cost calculation, negotiation, cost breakdown) as well as international trade (legal environment, payment means, transportation, incoterms, customs duties and import procedures),

§ Already validated an experience of at least 3 years in China (and ideally currently based in Shanghai), and wishing to continue the international career managing a team in an intercultural environment.
