An exciting opportunity has arisen to join as RIA Commercial Director for our International Region. The primary focus for this role will be to drive the Emerging Market Respiratory business strategy, including inputting into business development, providing clear strategic direction to help shape the portfolio strategy, drive commercial execution and become a strategic liaison for Regional and Area/MC Commercial Units.

Reporting directly to the VP, Commercial & Strategy, the RIA Commercial director will be a crucial strategic interface between the Regional and Commercial Units responsible for achieving commercial brands’ P&L and co-chairing relevant iBC for RIA. This individual will also be responsible for developing customized strategies for AZ RIA brands in International markets including Sales, Marketing and Market/Patient Access and facilitate implementation by developing business objectives and KPIs to drive performance.

Major KPIs for the role include sales, growth and market performance of AZ RIA Brands as well as acceleration of new product launches.

The RIA Commercial Director will report to the VP Commercial Strategy, International and will have 5 direct reports including long term plan 100 assignees. The position also plays a pivotal role in setting all RIA TA strategy and tactics to maximise growth for the RIA portfolio.

 Key Accountabilities

The RIA Commercial Director will be responsible for developing customized strategies for AZ RIA brands in International markets, including Sales, Marketing and Market/Patient Access and facilitate their implementation. They will also need to develop business objectives and KPIs to drive performance and strategy implementation in local markets.

They will guide and partner with in-market Respiratory BU heads to build robust country BSP, and drive performance to ensure we realise our bold ambition as well as partner with other global functions on portfolio / brand strategy and objectives.

This individual will ensure launch readiness/excellence for new products in the International Region and drive rapid dissemination of best practices sharing as well as developing and implementing new models for patient access in various market archetypes. The RIA Commercial Director will facilitate implementation of price approvals and reimbursement across our International markets, working in close collaboration with our regional market access function as well as support the continued development of MCs’ commercial excellence and core capabilities and build the International RIA Commercial Network.

Education, Qualifications, Skills and Experience

Essential

  • Strong knowledge of Respiratory Therapeutic area
  • Solid large country BUD Experience and P&L Management
  • Experience as a CP in a medium market or BUD in a large market
  • Innovative launch capability and in Emerging Markets
  • Brand specific change management & transformation experience in patient journey
  • Experience of being able to challenge, influence, contract and drive change with the most senior stakeholders across different countries or functions
  • Strong business analytical skills with the ability to (1) translate key insights into strategy / tactics and (2) identify, understand and communicate key drivers of performance
  • Strategic leader with the ability to assess current and future needs based on analysis of risks, opportunities and priorities
  • Commercial experience in emerging markets  (in-market ) including understanding of various healthcare systems and Regulatory & Medical aspects of pharmaceutical industry
  • Mobility (frequent business trips – min 50 % )
  • Fluency in English
  • Bachelor Degree in Science or Business, MBA preferred
