The goal of the Citi Markets Business Controls and Supervision function is to help establish a robust control environment and culture within the Markets Business worldwide. Developing a proactive control approach assists management in achieving strategic objectives, promotes efficiency, reduces the risk of loss and helps ensure compliance with corporate polices, procedures, laws and regulations. In addition, properly functioning internal controls enable management to deal with today’s rapidly changing environment and prepare for future growth.

Key Responsibilities

• Review and reconcile various exception and policy breach reports
• Escalate exceptions and issues to the appropriate level of senior management, to business unit managers and CAOs
• Perform checker Role for specific Core Controls processes.
• Coordinate with Business Unit Managers and other Control groups to achieve business objectives
• Maintain control documentation needed for the various internal, external and regulatory reviews.
• Support control initiatives, audits and self-assessment testing for assigned businesses.
• Develop internal relationships and provide support for various Trading /Sales Desks.

•     Responsibility for managing global controls and developing best practice procedures within Markets and   Securities Services.
•     Project manage process improvements to aforementioned global core processes.
•     Review support functions processes and challenge procedures that are not consistent with MSS objectives.  
•     Present controls developments to senior management

Critical Success Factors:

After 12 months, the candidate should:

• Gain the trust and confidence of the Markets Business Management teams.
• Establish a rapport with Business Managers, Compliance, Internal Audit, Financial Control and Middle Office.
• Develop a broad and detailed understanding of the organization’s landscape, culture and technology.
• Understand the various markets and the applicable regulations, which govern the markets.

The candidate will work with and have high visibility with senior managers/staff in business and support functions.

Qualifications:

• Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Economics, Finance or Accounting.
• MBA and/or CPA is an advantage

Skills

• Experience in Controls and Operational Risk Management is an advantage
• Knowledge in advanced financial products such as derivatives, credit default swaps, etc. is an advantage
• Experience with databases, including design, developing queries, reports and macros in a dynamic environment.
• Strong Desktop/PC skill, which include working knowledge of MS suite of applications, specifically Excel and PowerPoint.
• Exposure to database and Data Warehouse applications a plus.
