RVN Video Producer, Beijing

Reuters Video News is looking for a dynamic and talented Producer for the Beijing bureau.

This is a key role in a key bureau where Reuters video content is published directly to subscribers. We are looking for an experienced Producer who is eager to take on new challenges to help drive our daily coverage and be part of a high-profile, high-performing team responsible for covering news and features in the Greater China region and beyond.

The successful candidate should have strong English language and scripting abilities, able to speak, read and write business Mandarin to a level he or she can work independently on the news desk. You will also deal directly with key Chinese clients on a daily basis to coordinate daily news and live cover.

Working closely with visuals and multi-media teams in across Greater China, the successful candidate will be responsible for producing, editing, writing, planning, co-coordinating and working on news and feature stories. You will be a proven self-starter with excellent communication skills, an unflappable temperament and have the ability to build a strong rapport with colleagues in the bureaux and in different departments across editorial and sales.

The video news industry is going through a period of significant change, largely driven by the rapidly changing habits of news consumers and ever changing technology. The successful candidate should be very customer focused and able to tailor content for Reuters clients in the growing digital sector as well as existing broadcast news customers. A passion for newsgathering and visual storytelling is a must. This role demands flexibility and involves working some weekends and public holidays.

ROLE RESPONSIBILITIES

. Able to produce, edit, write and deliver a story from both office and field.

  • Coordinating daily news coverage as part of a multi-media team, includes working closely with teams in the field and the Singapore/London desks.
  • React fast to breaking news, monitor social media and sourcing third-party content.
  • Represent visuals internally and externally, building a strong relationship with local and international clients.

. Thorough understanding of the latest digital visual technologies for editing, transmitting and sharing.

. Meet tight deadlines in a Direct Inject bureau.

. Monitoring CCTV news bulletins and coordinating with them directly on daily news and live cover.

. Create and maintain visual planning entries.

QUALIFICATIONS/REQUIRED SKILLS

  • At least 2-3 years of experience working as a desk/field producer and editor.

. Excellent English writing skills.

. Writes and speaks Mandarin fluently.

  • A track record of working with multi-media teams.

. Ability to work under pressure to meet tight deadlines, many times unsupervised.

  • Strong planning and prioritization skills.

. Strong and clear communication skills, both with colleagues and clients.

. Ability to multi-task and adapt to changing priorities.
