Job Description

Arts Information Centre (AIC) is a new initiative set up by Hong Kong Arts Development Council (HKADC) at the Tai Po Arts Centre. AIC serves as a reference library for arts practitioners, academic researchers, and the general public to access arts materials of arts activities funded, supported or organised by HKADC. We are now looking for a caliber to support the development of the AIC.

 

Responsibilities:

  • To build and maintain updated records of AIC database through compiling, gathering and organising ADC’s reports and documents
  • To offer services and assistance for the concerned personnel to access the AIC records
  • To develop policies and services of the AIC, including but not limited to the cataloguing system, circulation service, the information service, donation policy, management and operational guidelines
  • To assist the overall strategic planning and management of the AIC(s), including the regular liaison with internal and external personnel and institutions
  • To provide technical and logistic support, which includes but not limited to train and supervise junior staff and helpers to provide services for AIC visitors, draft related papers and reports for AIC-related committees and working groups

 

Requirements:

  • A recognized degree plus a professional qualification in Librarianship, Library and Information Science, or equivalent
  • A minimum of 4 years’ post-qualification relevant experience in library service, familiar with cataloguing practice and procedure
  • Good knowledge of automated library system, cataloguing, databases and records management. Previous experience in setting up an information center or library, knowledge of copyright and digital rights management, understanding the latest development of reference or research libraries or the local arts scene will be advantage
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills and good interpersonal skills
  • Strong organizational skills and good time management skills with proven administrative ability and IT skills
  • A strong sense of responsibility, and self-motivated
