The R&D Data Office, within DS&AI, is a key organization to deliver upon AstraZeneca’s strategy.
Data Office operates a central capability, with R&D wide accountability, to ensure that we harness the power of data to drive innovative science.
Data Office will govern data, drive data quality and ensure our data is readied for analytics, creating paved-paths for scientists to perform data-driven research, without compromising our legal restrictions or ethical principles.
Within Data Office, you will work in the Reference and Master Data team. The team owns the development, deployment and subsequent oversight of the end-to-end process of ingesting, curating and provisioning quality Reference and Master Data.
Our mission is to support R&D users with highest quality of Reference and Master Data within the rigor of the appropriate compliance framework.
Typical Accountabilities
Master and Reference Data Mgmt. Strategy and Operations
Define and prioritise business requirements relating to Reference and Master Data capabilities using BA best-practice techniques. Manage/facilitate Reference/Master Data initiatives by working closely within and across the relevant workgroups. Provide related expertise to support internal partners with shaping their projects. Skill: Business requirements elicitation and analysis
Ensure the vertical traceability of requirements from top-level objectives down to executable iterations for new data content, new or enhanced processes, or new solution features. Provide strategic support to the leadership: formulating, aligning and implementing an MDM vision, roadmap. Skill: Business requirements mapping and analysis
Model business process of as-is and to-be states that enable efficient, scalable and sustainable reference and master data governance routines to be developed and embedded in AZ R&D. Own, support, lead the development and instigate continuous improvement of Reference/Master Data Management processes across ontologies. Skill: BPMN notation, process mapping and process analysis
Apply business acumen, collaboration skills along with the subject matter expertise to effectively broker resolutions of ambitious priorities across critical data domains/critical data elements.
Develop Reference Data curation guidelines and continuously improve them; curate Reference Data and provide consultancy and guidance on Reference Data management and curation.
Ensure effective collaboration with SMEs and Information Architects to support the development of conceptual models, business glossaries and ontologies.
Collaborate with business partners and influence discussions to contribute to the design and implementation of data standards and quality management framework as well as the relevant metrics.
Essential
Bachelor’s degree in business, data or technology subject area – or equivalent number of years of experience.
Solid experience in collaborating with strategic business partners, leading virtual teams and brokering alignment between parties of disparate priorities.
Team player with the ability to influence peers to modify behaviours and provide support for the adoption of related data governance policies and standards
Proven transformation management, interpersonal, assertiveness and negotiation skills
Demonstrable experience within master and reference data disciplines and domains
Clear understanding on conceptual, logical and physical data models development standard methodologies
Experience of Business/IT partnering for the implementation of Master Data related solutions
Knowledge and experience with regulated and/or legal environment and requirements (e.g., GxP, data privacy and security)
Awareness of the security, privacy, ethics and quality requirements for critical data entities
Demonstrate excellent written and oral communication skills
Desirable
Master degree in Business Administration, Information/Data Science, Informatics, computer science, economics or related field.
BA qualification from either the IIBA or BCS
Experience in life sciences and healthcare.
Network of relevant contacts and relationships, including external links
Data Governance and Data Management education and certifications
Applied data management and data science skills, including experience with related tools.
Experience in data ownership or stewardship
Consistent track record of publishing relevant data governance and policy topics in peer-reviewed journals, conferences, and other scientific proceedings.
Working knowledge on of the leading data modelling tools
Solid understanding of one of the industry best available MDM solutions – Reltio (ideal), Informatica, SAP, Oracle etc.
Strong consulting skills
