It has been agreed that our AstraZeneca UK Commercial head office will move from Luton to Pancras Square, London in early 2022. Our move to Pancras Square offers us the strongest possible platform to transform the lives of patients in the UK, as the country’s leading biopharmaceutical company. It will bring AstraZeneca UK closer to our customers, partners and stakeholders in the UK’s healthcare environment, as well as foster greater collaboration with the wider AstraZeneca footprint.

What you’ll do

As the Regional Business Director you will be fully accountable for sales performance and market access across your region by leading and utilising diverse matrix team including, primary care, secondary care & market access with a  fully aligned medical team. You will define the strategy across the regional footprint based on your strong understanding of the NHS and utilise local and National resource accordingly to drive outcomes. As the Regional Business Director you will manage senior NHS stakeholders to develop beneficial partnerships for the Patient, the NHS and AstraZeneca.

You will be fully responsible for managing the regional business, ensuring investments are effective and that they drive growth within the therapy area. This role reports directly into the Business Unit Director and is key member of National Business Unit Leadership Team, providing local insight to help shape AstraZeneca's National strategy.

The Regional Business Director will play a critical step that will allow AstraZeneca to align to the changing NHS and be closer to our external stakeholders.

We would expect that you could show the following capabilities:

  • Strong Commercial acumen
  • Excellent business planning and budget utilisation skills 
  • Analytical and interprets wide range of data to drive effective commercial decision making
  • Flexible, autonomous and decisive 
  • Strong matrix management of both Field Force And HQ cross-functional resources
  • Comfortable in senior and high pressure environments 
  • Can effectively lead and motivate teams and senior individuals and has strong performance management skills 
  • Excellent stakeholder mapping and management skills 
  • Strong local and National NHS knowledge. Has high knowledge regional performance, NHS structure, key stakeholders, trends, opportunities and risks to our business

  • Operating at a senior level in an organisation
  • Educated to degree level
  • ABPI qualified 
  • Full driving licence

  • Environmental knowledge across different NHS customers
  • Second line sales management
  • Experience managing Market Access teams
  • Experience in strategic business roles
