Regional Cloud Developer Advocate Program Manager
MicrosoftTel Aviv, Tel Aviv, IsraelUpdate time: January 24,2019
Job Description

The mission of the Cloud Advocacy team is to go where the developers are.

Cloud Advocates are responsible for creating engaging content, speak at events, and engaging with community leaders and the larger technical community. We also gather, deliver and implement technical feedback for our products, enabling a healthy technology ecosystem for Azure.

As a Cloud Advocate Program Manager, you play a critical role by helping our Cloud Advocates connect with relevant communities worldwide, becoming a bi-directional API into both local developer facing teams and internal developer relations stakeholders. You’ll work with Cloud Advocates in <region> to identify community leaders, content publishers and local events in professional, student and startup ecosystems applicable to our businesses. You’ll drive our strategy with local teams, support (and lead) local startup and student efforts and foster local communities with advocates’ help.

You’ll be our expert on the region’s developer landscape, working with Cloud Advocates to identify regional events of significance for sponsorship and/or speaking opportunities and ensure that we always provide the diverse and inclusive experience that our communities deserve. You’ll be analytical and measure the efficacy of our efforts, constantly tweaking and improving our processes.

You’re a media-savvy citizen and understand on a deeper level, how people connect and influence each other online. You’re eager to experiment with changing content consumption patterns and obsess over the minutiae of measuring, understanding, iterating and improving our community outreach efforts to build an authentic and valued voice across in-person and online (social or mass media) communities and publications.

Responsibilities

  • Identify key friendly and non-friendly technical leaders & communities in Israel
  • Build mutually beneficial relationships with individuals and communities worldwide, in partnership with other Regional Cloud Advocate PMs and Cloud Advocates.
  • Work cross-organizationally with marketing, professional, academic, startup and product teams to build and execute local developer community strategy for diverse developer audiences. Create regional toolkits and documentation of outreach efforts.
  • Research and report on your region’s community landscape, partnering closely with our Cloud Advocates to discover, co-ordinate and strengthen engagements with relevant individuals and communities.
  • Measure the efficacy of programs through qualitative and quantitative means, working closely with both our analytics teams and our Cloud advocates, to create better regional intelligence that can power insights for our content, events or advocacy efforts.

Qualifications

    • At least 3+ years of working with developer-focused events, content and communities.
    • An innate understanding of and relationship with developer communities in your local ecosystem (particularly those outside the Microsoft ecosystem) and what excites them.
    • First-hand experience in startup-like environments where dealing with ambiguity, taking initiative and juggling multiple “top priorities” is par for the course.
    • Exceptional cross-organizational skills.
    • Exceptional verbal and written communication skills (C1-level or higher) in English and at least one official language in Israel.
    • Ability to gracefully navigate, listen, synthesize, influence, de-escalate, and re-route issues across the organization chart.
    • A commitment to eliminating information asymmetry and communicating fearlessly across our management chain.
    • Highly motivated self-starter with a strong sense of self who relies on their work ethic, active sharing and collaboration to produce quality and quantity.
    • Problem solver who constantly seeks to refine, iterate, and improve on efforts to arrive at sustainable solutions vs isolated fixes.
    • A passion for developers and nerd culture and digital subcultures.
    • A belief that organizations and industries are best when they are diverse and inclusive, and a commitment to ensuring that everything we do reflects that belief.
    • Experience working remotely and collaborating effectively across distributed teams or time-zones.
    • Thrives in an ever-changing, open, inclusive, and feedback-encouraged environment.
    • Exceptional ability to create programs and systems to scale.
    • Travel as required to local community and Reactor events.
