Let’s do this. Let’s change the world. In this vital role you will lead and drive change within our global team relating to the safety and security of our company. Reporting to the Vice President, Global Security and Chief Security Officer, you will work in partnership with various Amgen business partners such as HR, Facilities, IS, LAW and Compliance. We work in a fast-paced environment with a focus on developing programs that scale, and which are impactful. If you enjoy speed, autonomy, and driving change, this role is for you.  

Responsibilities: 

  • Lead and grow the regional security operations for Amgen's San Francisco, Burnaby, Mississauga and Tampa sites. 

  • Preemptively lead operational security and safety measures concerning Amgen and our staff members including travel guidance, intelligence, and communication to staff members as appropriate. 

  • Partner effectively with key groups such as IS, Facilities, GSS, Finance, LAW and HR to drive the security operational and technical due diligence process.  

  • Drive both cost and operational efficiency through the program as it scales, while also continuously innovating. 

  • Liaison with local, county, and federal law enforcement for incident responses, investigative support, and best practices. 

  • Refine executive protection and executive services guidelines in support of business objectives to ensure these services for executives, special events, or travel-related security needs (utilizing third-party consultants or vendors where/when needed). 

  • Ensure timely and accurate communications with VP/CSO and those affected by incidents. 

  • Develop security construction standards and confirm the accuracy of site drawings and security designs depicting recommended hardware and security controls for regional offices. 

  • Manage Global Security professionals, regional security officers, provisions, and oversee any third-party vendors providing staffing in collaboration with regional site leadership. 

  • Refine and implement an incident response program aligned with key partners. Responsible for iterating on Amgen’s incident management protocols and business continuity planning. Primary owner as needed during an incident or event.  

  • Design and implement a loss prevention program supporting the protection of physical assets and other materials. 

  • Partner with internal stakeholders to expand security protocols and procedures. 

  • Educate staff members on physical security policy and standard methodologies. 

  • Oversee the regional budget and expenditures of the program. 

  • Analyze data, lead management reporting, and develop a strategy for the global security programs. 

  • Manage cross-functional, regional relationships, and projects to ensure policy, process, and systems are aligned to meet the needs of the programs.

What we expect of you 

Basic Qualifications 

Doctorate degree and 4 years of Corporate, Law Enforcement or Security experience 

Or 

Master’s degree and 8 years of Corporate, Law Enforcement or Security experience 

Or 

Bachelor’s degree and 10 years of Corporate, Law Enforcement or Security experience 

And 

4 years of managerial experience directly managing people and/or leadership experience leading teams, projects, programs or directing the allocation of resources

  • 15+ years of experience working in the corporate, law enforcement, and/or U.S. government security function 

  • Extensive law enforcement relationships  

  • Executive protection program management experience  

  • Strong computer and systems knowledge including experience with multiple access control systems 

  • Experience with contract negotiations as well as 3rd party vendor management  

  • Strong leadership experience including global / cross-functional teams and managing local markets 

  • Excellent technical, interpersonal, and analytical skills
