Job Title: Regional Formulation Technical Manager

Business Group/Unit: DSM Nutritional Products / Human Nutrition and Health

The Job

• Supervise regional Formulation Managers. Help subordinate them in their formulation activities.
• Coordinate activities with Sales and work with Sales and Customer Service persons to provide technical support.
• Work with Formulation Managers at a global level and provide training as necessary. Train new Formulation Managers for all facilities.
• Provide support to Global Functional Lead Formulation Technical Management and help implement activities as necessary.
• Attend Trade Shows/Workshops to improve technical know- how in the field of nutritional science.
• Work with Sales, Purchasing Managers on a regular basis to support the existing technical department activities.
• Design, establish and maintain an organizational structure, staffing, and the physical infrastructure needed to effectively grow the organization and accomplish the site's goals and objectives. Ensure all resources for the realization of necessary Formulations processes in compliance with requirements set in the applicable laws and applicable GMP’s.
• Develop and implement Formulations system plans to drive “preventive actions” and continuous improvement across the site.
• Responsible to host/manage audits by Formulations regulatory agencies and manage audits of critical GMP suppliers and contractors.
• Assists strategic business leaders in Formulations and operational improvement as it relates to the Fortitech Premixes business strategy. Takes a leadership role in problem resolution and process improvement when customer error occurs
• Provides leadership in harmonizing/developing and implementing company policies, procedures, KPI’s and other Formulation Technical Management measures.
• Determines and establishes Formulation Technical Management department organizational structure and management relationships.
• Continuously seeks out new and better ideas, driving best practices and benchmarking externally.
• Adapt the Formulations system processes and elements to the market needs while strengthening competiveness and extenuating the DSM Fortitech Premix role of Formulations leader in its chosen markets.
• SHE Duties & Responsibilities: Display and promote positive safety behaviors at all times; use proper personal protective equipment, appropriate safety tools, equipment and procedures to ensure that self and others go home safe each day; that area and equipment operate at the highest safety levels; that all people in the area comply with the safety directives and keep the area neat and clean.
• Ensures SHE objectives, plans, and requirements are communicated and understood in the organization the job holder is responsible for.
• Supports and/or organizes involvement of Formulations department employees to review SHE plans, requirements, procedures, and instructions.
• Ensures that the competences of the employees are sufficient to let them perform their task in a SHE responsible way. Ensures necessary training complete.
• Demonstrates SHE leadership by setting standards and encouraging employees to act responsibility and safely.
• Ensures incidents are investigated, reported, and risks are assessed in a timely basis.
• Ensures awareness and follows all DSM Life Saving Rules.
• Accountable for SHE procedures to be followed in the Formulations department.
  

• Extensive Operational and Formulations Management experience in related industry (minimum of 5 years as a Formulation Manager).
• Project Management experience.
• Expertise in GMP activities with Food, Beverages, Dietary Supplements and FS 22000.
• Adapt at communicating with senior management and application of diplomacy with external customers and regulatory agency personnel.
• Experience in risk assessment and Formulations System auditing standards Leadership capabilities.
• Minimum Master in Science (BS) degree from accredited university.
• Proven Project Management skills.
• Analytical knowledge.
• Training in Formulations systems (i.e. GMP, auditing, standards, regulations etc…).
• Manufacturing knowledge and experience.
