Job Description

Overall objective

WDC product expert in assigned market segment

Provides market and customer insights to the business to support Roadmap development

Acts as segment product expert to champion WDC portfolio and solutions

Support sales teams to select intended product promotion and alignment on key opportunities of focus

Participate in the program of Sales Enablement and CTS Enablement

 

Responsibilities

Maintain market expertise in solutions and applications within assigned segment

Stay up-to-date on market and industry trends and leading practices

Participate in industry wide events and publications

Know and communicate WDC product roadmap and technical value proposition

Source of truth about WDC product roadmap both internally and externally

Support BM/Sales as needed to communicate WDC product advanced features and capabilities and help BM/Sales identify best WDC product to meet customer need

Collect customer requirements and understand market trends, providing feedback into product planning and management teams 

Provide inputs on the future functionality needs of relevant products for major customers and drive customer/ feature priorities to influence product roadmap

Co-create perspective on TAM and SAM for customers and segments with account teams to reach an objective view of long-range market opportunity size

Qualifications

Experience

Deep technical experience at a systems vendor is preferred

Must have experience in developing customer insights, extracting customer pain points and generating product requirements

Deep China specific HDD market knowledge including:

Solutions and specific products available in the market

Fluent in English and Chinese, based in China

Skills & Competencies required

Deep segment specific knowledge including:

Understanding dynamics and predicting long term China specific market trends

Engineering degree & associated technical skills

Able to understand complex market needs and communicate need with product planning and management teams for assimilation into current and future product roadmap plans

Resourceful, creative, diligent, and able to follow up and make things happen with colleagues and co-workers across many disciplines. Must be a problem solver and competent in co-designing technical solutions

Ability to build and manage relationships at all levels of an organization

KPIs:

Perceived as a thought leader in segment by peers and commercial team

Awareness of competitive offerings

Understanding of market trends
