Eaton’s Fuel & Motion Control Division has an opening for a Regional Purchasing Manager
The Regional Purchasing Manager – NA will support a team of Plant Purchasing Managers and buyers across the FMC NA sites (6 plants) to ensure external supplier commitments are achieved.
This position is responsible for leading the efforts to improve supplier OTD, drive supplier cost out, deploy consignment/VMI, evaluate supplier risk, support the Supplier Price Increase Request (SPIR) process, and address supplier quality issues that impact performance across the NA plants. The role will require the individual to be familiar with a complete range of Purchasing functions. This includes the total cost analysis of materials purchased, the execution and alignment to commodity strategies, resolutions of delivery issues, leading Regional Critical supplier reviews, negotiations with suppliers, regulatory compliance and the ongoing management of supplier relationships including supplier rationalization.
In addition to the Purchasing activities and supplier management this position will be responsible for driving down cost in respect to increasing favorable PPV at the sites alongside the development and implementation of advanced replenishment strategies.
Essential functions:
- Leadership –- Accountable for approx. $375M of spend the role provides support to the Plant Purchasing managers
- Improve supplier OTD by identifying root causes of late deliveries and development and implementation of plans to meet Eaton sales goals.
- Ensure cross-site harmonization for KPI’s, Metrics and standard work established inclusive of training and succession plans.
- Lead the team in the identification of suppliers for VMI and consignment and meeting all business goals for those planning profiles with an emphasis on executing VMI on 80% of runner/repeater parts.
- Develop relationship and enhance delivery capability of Shared Service Centre in India via key NA support staff at each of the NA sites.
- Hold Purchasing teams as well as suppliers accountable to performance and recovery of cost associated with non-conformances as needed and required.
- Detail orientated - Ability to be act as the Subject Matter Expert (organizationally) in regard to Purchasing delivery across NA specifically with high focus on defining efficient working modes and best practice.
- Relationship building – Must be able to maintain and grow strong relationships internally and externally to support delivery of Purchasing objectives including but not limited to the following stakeholders:
Shared Service Centre – PUNE
Plant Materials Management – including shipping and logistics
Plant Production Managers
Plant Managers
NA Operations Director
Plant and Divisional Supply Chain Leadership – including Supplier Quality/Transition/Development teams.
- Communication and Active Listening – Review with SLT expectations/roadmap for Supply Chain Strategy and thereafter communicate/implement NA Fulfillment strategy (with key SCM personnel) to all relevant Stakeholders accordingly.
- Process – Responsibility for NA wide implementation of Purchasing best practice with a strong emphasis on delivering std KPI’s/Metrics and Continuous Improvement and updates to key documents to remove single point failures in Skill base.
- Flexibility - Excellent organizational skills with ability to prioritize multiple projects across 3 NA Sites and execute accordingly utilizing a global Supply Chain.
- Decision Making – Must have a factually (not emotively based) mindset with ability to make key decisions efficiently with minimal guidance. Must be able to illustrate clearly and efficiently ideas to sub-ordinates, peers and management (based upon sound data) to implement changes to structure, process or reporting.
- Creativity and Problem Solving – Ability to think outside of the box as well as being a structured change agent for the NA sites is essential.
- Ensure that current methods and processes are continually challenged for efficiency/simplicity to embrace growth.
Qualifications
Basic Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree from an accredited institution in either business, supply chain, operations management, engineering, or a closely related field
- Minimum 7 years of experience in a manufacturing environment
- Minimum 5 years of experience in a manufacturing supply chain role that focused on the commodity and sub-commodity marketplace, best cost economies, production planning, inventory control, purchasing, logistics, advanced replenishment and/or any combination thereof
- Minimum 3 years of experience in a multi-site supply chain management leadership role
- Must be able to work in the United States of America on a permanent basis without requiring sponsorship
- This position requires use of information or access to hardware which is subject to the International Traffic in Arms Regulations (ITAR). All applicants must be U.S. persons within the meaning of ITAR. ITAR defines a U.S. person as a U.S. citizen, U.S. Permanent Resident (i.e. Green Card Holder'), Political Asylee, or Refugee.
- No relocation is being offered for this role. Candidate can work out of any US Eaton location or remotely.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Knowledge of materials planning systems (MRP/ERP) requirements and order generation process logic and MRP/ERP planning parameter knowledge and update requirements.
- Thorough understanding of Supply Chain Management operational concepts surrounding production planning, inventory control, purchasing, logistics, advanced replenishment and shipping/receiving and all associated KPI’s and Metrics.
- Strong understanding of manufacturing processes as well as special processes.
- Knowledge of the commodity and sub-commodity marketplace, including in Best Cost Economies.
- Excellent communication, customer service, and interpersonal skills necessary to converse with diverse group of stakeholders including, operations and Supply Chain Management personnel and supplier organizations. Management of Multi-Site and multi-cultural teams is essential.
- Demonstrated experience in successfully supporting commodity strategies and driving cost-out.
- Demonstrated ability contributes to cross-functional teams in the development, implementation, and achievement of results through cross-functional business initiatives and commodity strategies.
- Collaborative skills are necessary to achieve and meet SCM and customer requirements and to gain the support needed to move projects and initiatives forward.
- Strong analytical problem-solving abilities are necessary to understand operational inefficiencies and separate/resolve legitimate supplier performance issues.
- Detailed knowledge of industry specific quality registration schemes (i.e. ISO9001, AS9100, etc.)
- Strong planning/project management skills
- Strong PC application skills. Including complement of Microsoft Office Software, with strong capabilities in Excel and Access
