Position Overview

The Sales Manager leads and supports a team of Sellers and Business Development Managers by performing supervisory tasks as delegated by the Director of Sales.

Area(s) of Responsibility
*************************

  • Staff, train, and direct the regional Sales department
  • Provide leadership, management, and support for Velocity's Sellers
  • Develop and ensure adequate performance of all sales activities and standards (e.g. outbound calls, quotations, CRM, etc.) in assigned markets
  • Lead the achievement of maximum revenue and margin growth
  • Establish plans and strategies to expand Velocity's customer base
  • Establish and maintain strategies for cost avoidance and mitigation; NCM, Problem shelf products, RMA's, etc.

Essential Functions
*******************

  • Participate in hiring, onboarding, and training of Sellers
  • Mentor, coach, motivate and counsel Sellers to build selling skills
  • Ensure that company policies, procedures, and business ethics codes are communicated and implemented within the team
  • Conduct one-on-one reviews with all Sellers to build more effective communications, understand training and development needs, and to provide insight for the improvement of sales and activity performance
  • Create and conducts customer presentations as needed, and assists Sales Representatives with preparation of customer presentations
  • Work with Director of Sales to ensure a coherent top down/bottom up strategy
  • Maintain awareness of and monitor performance relative to market
  • Meet regularly with senior management to report on Sales Team performance
  • Evaluate and approve orders
  • Troubleshoot sales and coordinate with purchasing, and other departments, on process issues
  • Maintain accurate records of all sales and customer-related activity
  • Maintain regular contact with key partners to ensure high levels of customer satisfaction
  • Control expenses to meet budget guidelines

Education and Experience
************************

  • High School Diploma or equivalent, in any field
  • 5+ years of sales experience in the electronic components industry
  • Extensive experience in all aspects of Customer Relationship Management
  • Computer literate
  • Familiar with complex ERP systems
  • Proven leadership and ability to drive sales teams
  • Exceptional judgment
